It's been almost a year and keys have still not been touched???
I don't get it honestly
They said they'd be looking at keys after nerfing moris and basically making them useless
It's been almost a year since they said that, and keys have still not even been touched.
It's clear as day to see the bias towards survivors lol

Keys nerfed. Now hatch will stay open for 10 seconds, not 30. And more changes will come in future. Give them time lol
7 -
That's barely a nerf, should be more like only the person with the key can use the hatch or something
Considering how useless they nerfed moris to be

I don't think they'd do that. Not because 'Devs prefer Survivor' nonsense or anything, but just because of the whole thing where 4 survivors escaping through hatch is still an achievement, just like Left Behind- and changing keys like that would make that achievement near impossible. (Afterall, they can't just change achievements like that on consoles.) Plus, it would just encourage a more 'Lone Wolf' and 'Let your entire team die to escape' mentality that you already see with keys when they're brought in trials.
Imho keys just need an add-on change more then anything. I think that+this new hatch change would make them much more fair. (Afterall, I think some people like to forget how nasty key add-ons really are just in themselves.)

the aura reading add ons are useless. I'd rather run kindred or alert.

I'm assuming they're gonna bring the key rework alongside the "early game collapse" showcase, since they said that its been taken a completely different direction. My guess is they're gonna showcase it alongside the anniversary chapter or the mid chapter. Since it has been in the works for quite some time

Um it hasn't been close to a year...maybe, maybe 4 months.

Terrible argument, and it is made in literally every single thread about this topic:
- Achievements are able to be changed as long as it is no longer possible to obtain the achievement
- When they talk about achievements changing and how they can't, they were talking about the huntress one that was like, "land 200 hatches from more than 30 meters away" or something. They changed it on steam to be like 10, but PS4 its still 200 or w/e the number was. Sony said that even though it is hard, that is fine, as long as the achievement is still possible they aren't allowed to change it./
- Lastly, and most importantly. Sacrificing gameplay for the sake of an achievement is stupid.

I mean, that wasn't my entire argument as to why I don't think they'd change keys- just a popular reason as to why your particular suggestion for keys probably wouldn't get implemented. (Along with my other point of encouraging the 'Lone Wolf' gameplay with keys *even more* then it does already, which will just make the matches just as miserable for everyone when a key is involved.)
And yes, I know they can change achievements. It's just that it's an absolute pain to do, and I can see why that function of keys wouldn't be something they would want to change. Achievement aside, a 4 man escape through hatch isn't exactly the worst thing in the world when you consider what all must be done to reach that point. (And, you know, the fact that you can play what people would call 'Scummy' to counter keys if you see them in a lobby, and if you don't, then they most likely gave you a good chunk of time to exert pressure while doing side objectives, and probably using perk slots to do it insteas of running a full metal build of DS Unbreakable with Dead Hard and Borrowed Time.)
Idk, I think if anything keys and moris are on a closer level now with both the reduced hatch timer and the older mori nerf, and I think the only other things that should really be changed about it is the add-ons, because they're wild.

Why so surprised?
Can you remember how long since they say they will make a mmr system?
0 -
At least they said something about adjusting keys. They haven't mentioned anything about fixing nurses bugs since her rework almost 2 years ago.
3 -
Agreed, if anyone has a legitimate right to say "What about these bugs?" it's Nurse players.
3 -
They are only a pain to change if they are still technically possible to achieve. Otherwise, it is super easy to change achievements. It isn't a technical problem, it's a policy problem.

that’s definitely not enough. theyve had more than enough time, especially since it was easy and fast for them to change moris. i get it, numbers, blah blah, easier to change, blah blah. all excuses. easy fix to keys is only letting 1 person escape per key. that’s also just a number to change.

they even doubled down and made key spawn rate in chests doubled
1 -
It would be immediately balanced if the hatch had an animation time to open like gates or chests
but the fact a survivor can instantly open the hatch and jump in is the single most broken thing I ever saw.
many times I chased a survivor only for them to open the hatch and jump in mid chase. I can't stop that there is no ######### counterplay. They get a free win no matter what I do.
If they had to open it like a chest/gate while I am chasing them that would be incredibly more fair.

It has been ALMOST 6 months - to be exact which is not the same as "almost a year." Just saying. Moris were changed 12/8/2020.

It took them 4 years to change Iri Head.

Wait a second since @Northener1907 told you that they've been nerfed, that means that your entire statement is false, since they HAVE been touched, unlike what your title suggests.
And you agree they've been touched.
So does that mean that you're misleading the readers?

Before they nerf keys, they should fix (prevent) exit gates from spawning 3 tiles apart on the same wall.
0 -
I don't really get why they can't implement a code segment which prevents exit gates from either spawning on the same wall or straight opposite sides of the map. Maybe a fixed distance from each other so different map layouts don't mess with the above and deactivate those lines of code on indoor maps like lery's, midwich and so on were gates are predetermined.
But the answer to all that is probably the outdated mess of a spaghetti code they use and makes the implementation of additional things a huge headache for any programmer.

True. Keys should be personal and should have a 3s (or whatever) opening animation that can be interrupted. Then you'd need 4 keys for the Achievement, but that's fair.
I can understand the Mori nerf though. It was a pain to just die because the killer was an ######### and tunneled. The same pain like seeing 2 or more escaping through the hatch. The current item rarity bug in chests make it worse. Well.... I've finally found a purpose for all my Cut Coins at least.

That's 1 addon on 1 killer, You're really grasping at straws to think that is anything like Mori's or Keys which are available to every Survivor and killer.
0 -
It took 5 years to change Mori's to an acceptable state.
0 -
You mean a useless state. Notice how d.s was nerfed but it's still used alot more than Mori's are.
And key's have still not been touched.
0 -
So you think Mori's old state was acceptable?
0 -
No, they were op and now they are 1 step above a steaming pile of.
They could have just dropped the rate that they show up in the bloodweb, like 5% chance or something so they would be a "rare addon"
And i still like how you focus on 2 things which have been nerfed into the ground but ignore addons that are still heavily used by survivors.
And there is challenges to use keys never seen any for Mori's though eh? Pre and post nerf.
0 -
Dropping the rate they show up in the bloodweb does nothing. If there was an item that instantly won the game, it wouldn't matter if it was a 1/1000000000000 chance to find it, it would still be OP.
What add-ons? Tell me you aren't complaining about the Syringe and Styptic Agent?
1 -
Keys? What the op was talking about before you put on your rose eye glasses.
0 -
Man, you are getting really hung up on the whole achievement thing that I brought up, even though that was not the crux of my argument.
My point is, I can see why the Devs wouldn't want to change the current way base keys function, as far as the suggestion of keys should only allow one person out. Why? Because this promotes a style of play that many already dislike playing with and against- encouraging keys to just be used by players who have absolutely no interest in helping their team, ever, and only care about their own survival. (I think anyone who plays this game for any length of time as a Survivor can agree that there's a difference between preferring to play and work alone, and someone who will just wait for their team to perish so they can escape- no matter the circumstance.) The issue of having to possibly change the achievement because of this is just a side issue, that is brought up in these discussions a lot, which is why I brought it up in the first place. It's more of a subpoint than anything though.
As I stated though, I think if they change anything about keys it's going to be the add-ons, because they're pretty nasty.
