Keys shouldn't spawn in chests

I'm fine with Survivors taking a key into the match because then I can prepare and play around it.

  • I can tunnel the Survivor with the key
  • I can take Franklin's and make the Survivor lose the key
  • I can use the dropped key as potential bait
  • Once so many Survivors have died, I know to keep an eye out for the hatch

I have options and can prevent/reduce the chances of the Survivors escaping via that method.

Now when a Survivor finds a key in a chest, there's not much that can be done.

  • You don't know when a key has been found
  • Survivors can safely group up and escape with you being none the wiser
  • It's too late to take Franklin's Demise
  • The key is so small compared to other items, you can miss seeing a Survivor carrying it
  • Mid/late game strats are left completely useless (Doing the 3-gen strat? Nah, we'll just escape)

Keys just shouldn't spawn in chests.

This would all be inconsequential if the hatch spawn conditions were changed to just:

    1. When all 5 generators are repaired.
    2. When only one survivor remains in the trial.

All of the bullshit hatch escapes are the ones that happen when there's still gens to repair. How are you supposed to deal with that as a killer when you're trying to defend gens? How is it that you can be playing well as the killer, and have eliminated 2 of the survivors at 3 gens, and then suddenly the remaining 2 survivors vanish off the face of the earth?

Make survivors earn the hatch by completing all the gens, or give the last remaining survivor a final hail mary in the face of otherwise certain defeat. Nothing inbetween.

Agreed. Screw keys. They turn a decent match into a morbidly unsatisfying frusturation fest. If they added something that let the killer kill 2 people instantly when there were 2 gens left the survivor mains would throw a fit but them getting out for free halfway through the game? Nah thats TOTALLY fair.

    It is up for discussion.

There is so much to the HATCH that changes this game. That either makes it a match that is going to be FUN, or a match that is going to be REALLY bad.

If I am playing killer. I lobby dodge keys. I am almost to the point now, where keys are so frequently found in chests. That bringing franklins is almost my #2 must-pick.

    • Lightborn - REQUIRED
    • FRANKLINS - REQUIRED.
    • NOED - REQUIRED
    • WARDEN - REQUIRED.
