Hook Struggle Skill Checks...
Story
In each game I get proxy camped because I get caught in the endgame. And I'm on the struggle stage and hook skill checks get harder. So while I'm being proxy camped I have to focus on skill checks as well as my surroundings. But near when you are about to die, skill checks get to about DS size maybe even smaller. I can hit DS size skill checks but not with all these distractions.
So I look away for a second because my teammate is right next to me with the killer right behind them about to hit them and I have about 7 seconds left on the hook, and the skill check is so small I can't hit it because I am distracted and I miss it and takes the rest of my bar and I die. This is so frustrating.
I am good at skill checks but I can't hit DS size skill checks every 5 seconds while having to look where my teammates are
Skill checks on hook struggle shouldn't get that small, especially for the newer players.

You are about to die, so it wouldn't be easy scape from Entity.

You're fighting the Entity trying to devour you & getting weaker as you go; you're not supposed to have EZ skillchecks so you can see the Killer's actions while you take a vacation on the hook.

Maybe hit the skill-check then glance around putting your camera into the position that gives you the best look at the map and player locations, then focus on the subsequent skill-checks, and readjusting your camera during the windows between them if need be. It really isn't a valid complaint in all honesty

I'm noticing alot more survivors dying faster during struggle because of missed skill checks toward end of struggle.

Why do you have to focus on anything other than skill checks while in struggle state? Once you get off the hook, then you can worry about everything else.

Is it the same size as PH cage skill checks?

It's weird you don't get bp for hitting hook skillchecks.

I mean you're fighting the opponent not the entity. Losing to a missed skill doesn't make any side feel like a victory is earned or lost.

If you have friends to practice skill checks with in a custom I highly recommend running overcharge and oppression to help get accustomed to tiny skill checks!! Good luck in your next matches!

Not everyone has friends... Thats me

Because I want to know where my teammates are

there honestly shouldn’t even be a struggle or skill check mechanic, it’s just mundane, boring, and requires you to pay more attention. Dying early in on the second stage of a hook isn’t enjoyable for anyone in the game, not even the killer

I can't believe I missed the biggest skill check while struggling and then I missed a small one and then died.

I despise the skill check hook system. I had zero problem with it before. You didn't have to "button mash" (which literally means just randomly, feverishly mashing buttons), you just had to tap a single button to a moderate tempo to stay alive. Tapping your finger to the beat of "Every Breath You Take" was as rigorous as surviving a hook. But everyone complained that doing this was causing carpal tunnel, giving them early onset arthritis and breaking their wrists, so I guess I'm happy for those that the new system has helped.
For me? It feels less like a struggle and more like...well, a skill check. I get enough of those from playing the rest of the game. It's also very easy to get distracted and miss the check when a gen blows up or the killer comes back and swats you when the check happens to come. Lastly, there are times when I'm quite ready to just die and move on but I can't, I have to sit for an extra five or ten seconds waiting to fail more than one check to move on.
I'm not saying that the game has to be "my way" or that I don't have sympathy for those who actually legitimately had some physical issue with the previous system. But I think there was a lot of misunderstanding, a lot of people who believed that you had to jam on that escape button as fast as possible to stay alive. You didn't. Calm, rhythmic tapping was all that was required.

Two issues I had with that:
1) The lowest possible rhythm is something you can't really experiment with, because dipping below it for even a second would immediately kill you.
2) My friends had some latency from time to time that would swallow input and kill them outright.
The new system is much more comfortable, though it does get a bit unreasonable to the end. I think it's fair that it pulls attention to the skillcheck and leaves the hooked person less aware of their surroundings. The fact that you don't get survival points is an oversight that needs to be fixed ASAP.

I accept your opinion, I understand that some people experienced latency issues and the rhythm would screw the players into being killed. I know that not everyone loved the old way. I would think that latency could cause just as much problems with the new system but I don't know.
As for the tapping, I don't want to sound like I'm some kind of expert player (I certainly am not), I guess it just happened that for whatever reason it only took me a day or two to realize that I didn't need to pump the button like crazy to successfully struggle. It was just a matter of saying to myself "this is hurting my hand, screw it, I'm just going to go a little slower". From there it didn't take long to realize that oh, it's not a speed thing, it's just a steady rhythm thing.
Keep in mind I'm not blaming anyone else who didn't discover the same comfortable rhythm, but when you hear a lot of people saying stuff like "now I don't have to worry about breaking the button on my controller" (which is a profoundly rare occurrence to begin with) or "I was sore for days playing this game", it started to sound a little on the whiny side. It's like "guys, don't furiously mash. Just tap. That's it. It really isn't that demanding".
Again, I'm not trying to place blame or scold any other players who liked the old system. A lot of people just erroneously made it out to be much more demanding than it actually was. The new system is alright, most people like it so that's fair and I'll get used to it sooner or later anyway. I just feel that it was a matter of fixing something that wasn't broken, and making it easier to screw up now.

This deserves to be bumped up because I had the same problem in an earlier match and its really annoying. Can they just remove needing to press anything all together and simply add a "let go" button if you need to suicide out of a match? I died before a team mate could save me as I was about to die because the skill check gets smaller and smaller and I missed the last skill check on accident. Unless they want to add more time to second phase, this seriously needs to be remedied.

I fully agree with the author!
The the last struggle skillchecks are too small. I had some games in that my teammate died on hook a few seconds before i rescue him because he missed his last skillcheck.
