Exit gate shadow buff

Hatch changes
"The close hatch interaction now automatically completes the remaining generators and powers the exit gates upon completion. Note that this does not actually open the exit gates, and that they will still need to be interacted with by the survivor for 16 seconds with the normal open gate interaction."

What happened to 20 seconds?

Another pretty good job so far from the DBD dev team.

Uhm... so the Hatch was survivor sided af. Now killers can close the hatch and it becomes even more survivor sided??

  • Member Posts: 493

I think it would have been better to just prevent injured people from entering the hatch. This way you remove the standoff cause the standoff always ended with a injured survivor entering the hatch.

Could a dev please clarify whether or not this was a typo?

Yeah it should still be 20 seconds. That is terrible.

People only post the things they can whine about. Heres the full content regarding OP's post.

For the next iteration, when the killer chooses to close the hatch, we will complete all remaining generators, powering the exit gates. All end game perks will activate (ie: No One Escapes Death, Remember Me, Adrenaline, etc). The exit gates will NOT open automatically, and will still need to be interacted with by the survivor for 16 seconds in order to open the gate.

This is not the final version of the hatch close/ end game mechanic. This mechanic needs to work well with emblems, granting the proper gatekeeper score to killers, adding a scoring event for closing the hatch, in addition to new hatch close text to indicate that the killer is triggering the end game + a series of other changes.

This is a test to see if players enjoy this game play and to see what we can do to continue to improve the experience for everyone. The Hatch Close interaction is meant for testing and gathering feedback for the duration of the PTB and will be removed for the 2.0.0 update.

That typo shouldn't have happened. Goes to show that once again, they don't know their own stuff.

I dont know if this has been suggested before, but me and my group of friends who play KYF a lot thought of a solution for the hatch-

The killer has the option to close the hatch immedietly, like in the first update that allowed the hatch to be closed. However when he/she closes said hatch, 3 black "entity themed" crates spawn around the map, they are not immedietly visible to the killer nor survivor. these crates have a similar mechanic to the pig's jigsaw boxes, in that they each have a random chance at being the true box the survivor needs. In a random crate a key will be sitting, that the survivor can then use to open the hatch and escape. The crates should each have a 15-30 second search time to give valid room for a survivor to sneak one in while the killer now patrols the gens and crates (we're just meer players and not game devs, we dont know how much time would be needed nor do we want to do the math).

    hope this idea helps :)

(p.s. just finished a game on lerry's with the current hatch fix, too broken for survivor atm, I think that may be more of a map issue though)

    I actually like this idea.
It gives the survivor a new chance of escaping, but it is still pretty hard to do for the survivor if the killer found the hatch first.

The wording is very subtle but I would interpret it this way that the exit gate now ALWAYS takes 16 sec instead of 20

Can we please have a mod confirm this typo or change
