Killers: Do you check Survivor names?
Hey Killers! When you're in pre-game do you check Survivor names and recognize/memorize names? Does it ever affect the way that you play your game if you recognize a Survivor?
I'm just curious! I think I went against the same Killer once and that they were less aggressive the second time around but I don't know how much of that was my imagination. ๐

I read them but I usually forget them in the game and play normally. Unless its someone I remember playing against the same day, then I try to play around to give them hatch if possible

Yeah, but mostly I check friends lists. I'm always curious to see how much SWF was in a team and, although its not accurate now that crossplay is a thing, it's still nice to know.
Edit: it's also a thing I do as survivor, which is why I'm fairly certain I get matched with an uncommonly high number of 3-person teams.

Yes I remember all of them. For the ones that stood out to me, I write their names down in my long black list so every time I enter a lobby I spend the whole count down searching for their names on my list.
I remember one time I had a Freddy that nodded at me and hit me when I was on the hook, well it took a while but one day the roles were reversed and I was a spirit. Thank god his team was trash.
Another time there was this pig that decided to camp me and hit me when I was on the hook, my teammates all escaped and the killer only managed to kill me. I didnโt like that so they all got their dues.
What's your username? Maybe you're in it.

Yes but only against my personal "Black List" and not anywhere else. If I have a Player use Hacks or Lag Spikes during a match, I add them to the Black List. If I have a Player engage in vile chatter at the end of the match (and we are talking really nasty) I add them to the list. Why would I give them a game again?

If it is a memorable name I may remember it. I am horrible with names in general though. It is usually a survivor who will come to my stream afterwards and tell me they have played against or with me before.

Yes, sometimes i am seeing funny names.
For example, once i saw "Face Camp Me" survivor. I was Leatherface. And that happaned in game :d And this guy said "Thank you for camping" in end game chat.

Today I ran into a Dwight called "My favorite ######### is dead #########."
Not only did the name seem too long to appear in full in the DBD, but on top of that when I saw his Steam profile a different name appeared. The Dwight also had legacy clothes, and as you can imagine, he was a hacker.
It wasn't a bad game because he wasn't the typical hacker who just annoys and #########, it was more fun than I expected (I got 2 kills because the guy basically didn't care about his premade, he just wanted to show me how he flew, repaired engines instantly, it healed instantly, had infinite firecrackers, etc).
It's one of the strangest names that I have come across and I found it quite curious that just the same day that I see that name there is a thread about the names of the survivors ๐.

No, I don't. And I think it's sad we're forced to try and do that anyway because 3 or 4 survivors will wear the exact same outfit. And if you say, "Just lobby dodge." that kind of proves it's a problem, doesn't it?

I've never been so tempted to give out my username just to know if I'm in that terrifying book of yours. LOL I like to think that if I'm on any lists they are the positive ones as I have never and will never tea bag, I only lurk near exit gates if I'm ensuring other Survivors make it, I don't bring keys unless a Rift challenge demands it, same for flashlights, etc. And I send a lot of positive messages. So hopefully I'm in nobodies black book. haha

That's very reasonable, yes! If someone is not just salty but outright abusive then I wouldn't want to repeat the experience again either!

What a weird match! I don't see hackers often (probably because I play on the PS4) but for someone to not be spammy but just... Proud to show off that they bought/downloaded some hacks is so strange. ๐Do you run into hackers often?

I was thinking more along the lines of positive interactions. Like oh, that's UsernameJohnDoe, he was fun to play against. That kind of thing! But obviously it goes both ways for negative interactions as well.
Do people dodge matches if they see identical Survivors? That's interesting, I didn't know that. I don't see that often but usually when people do that I think it's just them being silly or meme-y. They all take hits the same way regardless of cosmetics. ๐

I have been playing for about 3 years and I think I have only encountered about 4-5 hackers. It should be noted that I just deactivated Crossplay and my first game without Crossplay I found a hacker ๐
I have noticed that the forum censors the name (quite obvious because it is not a pretty name to say). Basically what has censored me is the n-word (you can imagine the name that this guy had).
I hope he will be banned soon, I even have a video recorded.

I dodge lobbies with survivors I recently played against as killer because I'm anxious about talking to them again in the endgame chat, no matter if I won or lost against them.

I see a lot of nice people in game, but when I play against them again in couple of days I never remember their names. But they recognise me in post game chat. They going like Hey! It's you! We played yesterday! And I often have hard time to remember them.
It's probably because I have a memorable nickname.

Aww! Well I hope that the endgame chat is mostly positive for you! I kind of want to start paying attention to Killer names so that I can give multiple compliments where they are due!

My memory is slowly turning into mush, so I don't remember survivor (or killer) names from one match to another, unfortunately. I told a story in the wholesome thread about facing a Kate in a slaughter a couple of days ago, giving them the hatch, then having them in my lobby again in the very next game. I made it a point to make sure they would be the one getting the hatch again if the second match went the way of the first -- spoilers: it did -- if for nothing but the funny element of it, wondering if they realized I was the same killer they'd just gone against.

I memories them, if they all play around the same and don't do anything special I give the one with the coolest name the hatch, if one of them has a name I really like I let them go no matter the game play.

I do exactly that to but don't mind it really or rather forget it in the heat of a trial.
Fun fact, the Saturday session i already posted several times about on this forum, by now 3-4 weeks ago:
15 games
10/11 times 3 men swf +1
1/2 times 4 men swf
1 time two 2 men swf
and lobby of full console
My rank then comfortably drifting around in green after a longer break against mostly purple and red (the console round being full skilled! red rank, I got one or two hooks all game XD). On PC, in Eu, from 7/8 pm until 1 am.

I'm not a killer main but I do remember survivor names for when I'm in a lobby with them again I mostly make a mental note of the bad survivors who sit self caring or using a map on and off for no reason instead of helping the team I will then lobby dodge that survivor.

No, not anymore. With crossplay enabled it is rare for me to go against the same survivors, so I just ignore their names. But it wasn't always like that.
Back in the day when I first started playing, it was not unusual for me to run into some familiar faces from time to time, and we would often have a nice chat after the game, or in the lobby :)
Also, funny fact: a few days ago I actually faced a killer that I met back in the day, and we recognised each other. It was an interesting experience.

I rarely check names at all, unless they are funny. If I do recognise a name mid-match, I'm not gonna make it any easier on them. Best case scenario, if they were a solo player with a terrible team last time I faced them, I will give them hatch if they make it till the end.
Best case scenario, the biggest reason of the killer playing less aggressive is because they know how you play. Having at least 1 survivor you can guarantee to not be sweaty is quite a large load off the killer's worries.

As a solo survivor and killer player with no cross play on, I definitely recognize a lot of the same people that I play with. Iโd say I play with like no more than 100 different people in this game and Iโve started to recognize a lot of them.
