Anti-Camp Hook Change

Camping a hook strategically, and proxy camping, have too many advantages for the killer with no real down side. It typically forces an unsafe unhook, or for the survivor to not even have a chance at playing the match. The following change would not be unfair to killers that are actively pursuing other survivors, and it would penalize those who are not:

  • None of the following applies for 15 seconds after hooking a survivor (only applies to that hook), while the killer is in an active chase, or while the killer is carrying a survivor.
  • If the killer is within 16m of a hook, obscure the hook progress meter for that hook until the killer has been more than 16m away from that hook for more than 15 seconds.
  • When the killer enters the 16m radius of a hook, there isn't another survivor with 16m of that hook, and there isn't another survivor within 8m of the killer, all hook progress should cease until the killer has been more than 16m away from that hook for at least 15 seconds.
  • While staying within the 16m radius of a hook, the existence of another survivor within 16m of that hook and within 8m of the killer will be performed every 10 seconds. If no other survivor is found at the time of the test, the progress of the hook will cease until the killer has been more than 16m away from the hook for at least 15 seconds.

This would not burden any killer who is actively pursuing other survivors, and it would make it extremely difficult for a killer to camp a survivor to death. BBQ used to help, but it doesn't really do anything today.

"Too many advantages"? I never knew "throwing the game" was a good advantage, same for "getting genrushed due to a lack of pressure".

And absolutely not, these changes would be abused by Survivors who rush the hook to stall Killers who don't camp while their teammates do gens.

No. And I'm tired of posting the same 5 paragraphs about why 'camping' is as legit as 'genrushing'; Both are the opposing team trying to win.

Stop trying to dictate how the opposing side wins. All these various ideas are, at their core, is ways to stop Killers from winning, or make them win more slowly, or punish them for not playing some Survivor-dictated 'correct way'.

    Stop.

Also; this. Survivors would just camp outside the radius in 2 different directions. Then the Killer would have to either chase one (and let the other unhook), or sit near the hook & watch the struggle meter not move while the 4th Survivor does gens with all the time in the world.

It's too easily abused, like every 'anti camp' idea.

Read the underlined part, OP. Read the whole box, actually.
