Why Is This Game So Toxic?

I mean. It's not the game. Its the community in my opinion

100%. Anyone claiming trying to win "in of itself" alone is toxic.... needs to go eat some ice creams, watch Care Bears and play "It Takes Two" instead.

Yup 😂

I don't think anyone has said that unless I've missed it. What I call toxic is the killer repeatedly smacking the survivor on hook, camping with Iri Head (or face camping as LF), slugging and leaving the survivor to bleed out, etc. There really isn't a reason to camp at the beginning of the game (a smart team will just do gens) unless survivors are looping near the hooked person.
Edit: I'm talking about camping near the beginning of the game. I don't care if killer camps someone that is almost dead or at the end of the game.

The game is no toxic, people are.

Toxicity always comes from those who participate in it, not the arena itself.
Individuals have a choice as to how to behave and can choose how they play the game. Nobody has to play toxic, and the game could be Animal Farm yet those people will still find a way to be dicks.
It's the responsibility of players to own their actions and stop blaming others for their own inadequacies.

That's the thing, some killers don't even try to win. They grabe a dude, facecamp him and just wait in the basement. If you are in SWF, you warned your friends, they finish 5 gens, leave and only you had your game ruined by some troll.
I can, more or less, understand why people camp to win. Lack of skills in chase, etc... But some persons just want to ruin your experience at all cost.
1 -
Exactly. Some people just want to ruin the game for others. They don't care about winning.
1 -
Yep, the absolutely did.
Exact words "they play him because they know they can get 3/4 kills every game especially with builds that make it even harder to play against. Those people are toxic".
Same person also said if you care more about winning than having fun that automatically makes you toxic.
Same Bull unfortunately. Toxic play used an excuse when someone loses fair and square. It's a game people. There are winners and losets.

"Toxic behaviour" has and always will be based on motivation. If you are first and foremost trying to ruin someone else's game. You could argue.
But if for example you are camping because you are using a strategy to bait and down survivors. Or tunneling to get a strong player out..... you may not like it but it ain't toxic.
And you know what.... either way you move onto the next game, pull your big pants up and move on. End of.

Yet I still see players camping basement throwing 1 shot hatchets right next to my forehead. Encouraging people not to use an OP add-on doesn't fix the problem that it's OP.

I personally feel that the toxicity stems from the poor optimisation and bugs. PvP games aren't a new concept. But when you playnalmost perfectly and either miss or get a hit which looks like it should(n't) have landed is what tilts people the most. Then that anger gets directed to the only direction you have - the opposing side...

I must of missed it then. I don't think many people would agree with that.

Todays society are soft and offended by everything.
"He pointed at me"
"She hit me on the hook"
"Hes running perks i dont like"
"She tbagged me"
"Hes chasing me again"
Soft.

This [insert game mechanic you hate] isn't toxic. I think it just started as a meme with certain content creators jokingly saying it but as you probably expect the dbd community took it seriously.

Strongest killer perks and items are not toxic, they're actually very needed in case you encounter survivors who are much better than killer and have an intent to bully or ruin killer's experience. Yes, this happens not often, but unless killer is checking profiles before game, it may still occur and the killer will have such a bad experience they may never want to play as killer again, quit the game or turn into a survivor main.
What is toxic in this game is teabagging, kebabing and post-game communication. While teabagging can't be removed, the devs could do something about other things, such as give options to disable chat in settings or give an option to hide profiles after the game.

In addition to my previous comment. I just faced 2 double SWF groups as Huntress on Lerys. They were clearly less experienced than me. So i just proceeded to double hook and from there on i slugged them and left, instead of killing them. I maxed out everything except hooks. They also maxed out everything in points.
They instantly left at the endgame screen. No gg or anything.
If i would have killed them at 5 gens (had 6 hooks at 5 gens and could have killed 2 at that moment), they probably would have left a -rep tunneling killer message on my profile.
People wonder why everyone is toxic. Well, being nice certainly doesn´t pay off.

Which is really sad in a way

Yeah probably. Idk though.

That is toxic by a loose definition. But the only truly toxic thing is endgame chat.

It's a good game. Entertaining and challenging. It's up to the player to learn the DbD system and get their skills up. We all have unique play styles, find the perks and items that best suit your style, and go from there. Stop complaining and enjoy the game. If you win or lose, it is what it is. No one owes you anything, just do your best and leave it at that.

THANK YOU! S.o.f.t.
That's what we're dealing with. All this whining over a video game. SMH.

"Personally I feel as if they are part of the problem when they don't nerf things like NOED and Iridescent Head as well as when they say that face camping is a "legitimate strategy" which lets face reality it isn't."
It doesn't matter what you or the majority of players THINK is toxic, using things that are in the game to try and win is by no means "toxic". You don't like how they function, fair enough, but that doesn't make it toxic. It may be stressful, annoying, an overrated build, but it's not toxic.

P
Play CSGO for a day and let me know if you still think this game is toxic. The "Toxic" in this game is Childs play.

I play only on PS4. A few month ago, you could still talk with the killer. Now, every one block their messages, survivors and killers.
I can be salty sometimes, but I never insult someone. Dialogue is the best option. But now you can't even do that. You can have any exchange with other players...
Maybe it's not a bad thing when I read some comments here. Some people should go outside more. You can't wish someone to have a cancer or commit suicide. That give me the chill... -__-
0 -
Yup. That's why it's toxic.
I play on PS4 as well, and I also meant that by endgame chat.

I wish Bhvr would turn off end game chat altogether And fix the bugs. The lag every time something in the game happens ex. Spamming a flashlight, completed gen, hex cleansed Or activated, someone gets hit with sloppy butcher or someone uses dead hard. Just to name a few

The Game is not toxic, the people Who play It is toxic and create a toxic environment.

And again you can hit 1 survivor with iri head where as without it you can down more then twice as many so again I ask how is that OP, sure it takes less skill but its also way more punishing to miss, if she misses that 1 hatchet she's basically useless in chase sure if she hits then its a down but if it was against an injured survivor then it still would be better to have more hatchets. I'm not even arguing to buff iri heads I think its fine where it is even if I've added it to the pile of mostly useless iri addons. i just honestly dont see how anyone can say its OP and your answer did absolutely nothing to answer my question, huntress has always had one of the strongest basement games outside of killers like bubba or maybe demo with the right build, iri hatchet doesnt even really make it stronger either.

NOED and Facecamping toxic? Lmfao
0 -
I mean NOED is what bad killers use because they either get looped by one guy for the entire game or are literally unable to stop generators from being popped. The goal of the killer is to kill survivors yes but they are also supposed to prevent generators being done now giving the killer a perk which only activates when they have failed one of their objective seems stupid to me. Honestly I think NOED would be better if everyone became exposed at the cost of the killer became slower. Obviously though some nooby NOED gamers will be sat there screaming at the thought of their precious NOED becoming fair for survivors.
Face camping in my opinion is bad for the game because when players get face camped it's usually because they have looped the killer for an excessive amount of time, so in summary you are punished for being good at the game. As a rank 5 survivor this has happened to me so many times and I cannot tell you how frustrating it is to loose a PIP point because you can actually play the game. I also think face camping is bad for the game because lots of new players do it and while doing this at higher rank the killer doesn't learn the basics of countering survivors looping, patrolling the generators and learning how to play the game in general, this makes matchmaking even worse than it already is encouraging more killers to DC frequently and in my opinion I don't blame killers for DCing because why should they play a game where they are placed against red and purple ranks at rank 15-20?
