Non-Typical Licensed killer/survivor suggestion

I suggested this on the survey released a while back and I never hear it as part of the discussions people have, but I've thought about it a while and think it has potential for a License option that could swap up the gameplay a bit and has a lot of potential. Suggested it on reddit earlier but thought I'd do it here too since this is the feedback area...

So the license would be from Coraline.

The Other Mother as killer, and Coraline as survivor.

As for killer, I think she should evolve visually throughout the match, maybe by gen count left or by progress on her power which I'll get to in a sec. But she starts out looking like Coraline's mother with button eyes and gets more and more monstrous as she goes on. Maybe even speeding up or something as she gets more spiderish.

Wither her power she can steal a downed survivor's soul and place it into a glass ball and gives it to an NPC rat to hide, and eventually run around the map with. The survivor who's soul was stolen (the character) then becomes an NPC with button eyes that wanders around while the player in turn assumes control of the cat from the story and must go seek out the rat and chase and catch/kill it to release themselves. The rats could be able to pass through obstacles that the cat cannot, say like a hole in a loop but the cat can spend the time to hop over obstacles. So in a sense, the survivor is now getting looped by the AI rat and is, in their own way, swapped to a killer role. However, rather than scratch marks, the cat can follow scent trails to locate and chase the rat. Longer trails while moving slower, shorter trails while sprinting. Once the rat is found, caught, they reassume control of their human character model and can get back to work. Meanwhile the other players can intervene in the chase if they happen upon it and react quick enough. Maybe the rat avoids other survivors by a couple meters, but will path through the killer's feet if nearby for protection. So the survivors could help corner the rat, or light stun it and meanwhile the killer can swing at the cat forcing it to jump rather than being hit, causing the player to lose ground in the chase.

Could connect the Other Mother's physical evolving to how many times she steals a soul, resulting in maybe faster movement speed, or a leap attack, or some bonus. Maybe even some type of ability to crawl around the environment.

I think its a fun world and you can pull a lot of ideas, or design inspiration from it to use certain mechanics in the game in different and fun ways. And if there was the house/garden map it could bring a lot of color into the game too, while still fitting within the horror theme. The Other Mother character was genuinely creepy enough to be a fitting DbD Killer.


I dunno, just some thoughts.
