Idea For Hemorrhage Changes

Hello Reader! I’m just another DBD player who spends too much time thinking about this game. Here are my opinions on the status effect Hemorrhage.

The Hemorrhage status effect feels incredibly underwhelming to apply due to it’s minimalistic effect. At the time of making this post, all Hemorrhage does is make it so that Injured or Dying Survivors leave behind pools of blood more frequently. The only effect this has on gameplay is that it makes these Survivors easier to track when following their blood trails. There are two main reasons why I feel like this effect doesn’t make sense on its own. Firstly, when I think of Hemorrhage, I think of rapid or uncontrolled bleeding that threatens someone’s life. Secondly, I do not believe that the current Killer Add-Ons that apply Hemorrhage properly reflect whether this is supposed to be a strong or weak status effect. Of the eight Add-Ons that apply Hemorrhage across all of the Killers, six out of the eight solely apply Hemorrhage with no other effect, and the other two apply Mangled with Hemorrhage. Three of these “Hemorrhage Add-Ons” are Uncommon, two are Rare, and three are Very Rare. While I am sure there are multiple factors that I am not considering that go into ranking the quality of Killer Add-Ons, it still doesn’t make sense to me how two Very Rare Add-Ons only have the general effect of “slightly increasing tracking ability.” Especially considering how blood trails can get hidden by certain map terrains, such as tall grass. The proposed changes seek to add some potent effect to Hemorrhage that would make Survivors want to get rid of it.

1.    Hemorrhage should increase the rate that Survivors “bleed out” when certain timed health states are applied

a.     For example: Hemorrhage now increases the rate that the timer for Hooked Survivors, Dying Survivors, and Deep Wounds depletes by 25%.

                                                   i.    This means that a Hook State goes from 60 secs -> 45 secs, Dying from bleeding out on the floor goes from 4 mins -> 3 mins, and the Deep Wounds timer goes from 20 secs -> 15 secs.

2.    Hemorrhage should have an indefinite duration similar to Mangled

a.     For example: When Hemorrhage is applied to an Injured Survivor, Hemorrhage lasts until the Survivor is completely healed

3.    Hemorrhage should show all Players that it is having an effect

a.     For example: Any Survivor who is “bleeding out” faster due to the Hemorrhage status effect will have their respective timer pulse yellow in all Player’s HUDs

The rationale behind these changes is that Hemorrhage now has a potent and visible effect on Survivors that creates a sense of urgency on top of the novelty of additional tracking. The intent behind these changes isn’t to actually cause a Survivor to bleed out but to force all Survivors to react more quickly to altered health states while in a trial. Similar to the Pig’s Reverse Bear Traps, the likelihood that a Survivor is going to lose an additional hook or health state due to Hemorrhage is low, but it remains as a constant threat to Survivors who don’t take it seriously.

But what do you think? Is this idea good or trash?

I'd say this is a well thought out idea. While I myself don't have ALL the numbers in front of me, this does feel fair and would be better than what we have for Hemorrhage right now.
