Sorry I don't do forums much and this topic has probably been brought up but is there any chance of making it so we can recycle unwanted cosmetic for shards? I mean it would cost the dev team nothing but a some time to set it up but would give us the opportunity to buy some other cosmetics with the shards from recycled cosmetics. I mean I bought alot with auric cells and recycling for those would be bad business but shards are free except for the time put in the game, and I would be willing to recycle some of my usued stuff for shards. Well let me know what you think and if you like the idea please comment so this topic will get a bump so maybe the devs will see it.

Thanks for reading.

The problem with shards is that shards, while a free currency, aren't exactly free. Every shard purchase is a purchase that could have been done with Auric Cells instead (the only exception being community contest outfits.) It's why the game doesn't give out shards often and why they're so hard to get in the volumes that let you do anything with them; people with an abundance of shards are less likely to buy auric cells or DLC, and BHVR doesn't want that. They also want you to keep buying new content instead of repeatedly refunding your old content to be able to get the new content for 'free', more or less.

Also, people get tons of free outfits from the rift. You could buy a rift pass for 1000 cells, grind it, get your 1000 cells back, and then get tens of thousands of shards out of the deal and use those to buy different outfits you did want instead of the random rift recolors. I just can't see this as a model that BHVR would willingly adopt when it has so much of an opportunity cost for them.

What I would like instead, is the ability to either mix and match cosmetics in the store (to see if I would like the combinations) and/or the ability to refund cosmetics until you get into a real match with them (to again mix and match). But the store's been out for like ... 2-3 years and that still didn't happen soooo yeah :(
