Idea For Technician Changes

Hello Reader! I’m just another DBD Player who spends too much time thinking about this game. Here are my opinions on the perk Technician.

Technician is a perk that I feel is mostly designed to be a training perk for newer players. Its primary feature is that it prevents failed Skill Checks on Generator Repairs from causing the Explosion (and Loud Noise Notification it creates), while increasing the Regression Penalty as a cost. While having a perk designed to help newer players is always welcome, I feel like this perk has very little use outside of that niche. It doesn’t take much time playing the game before players understand how to hit Good Skill Checks, and this perk really only gets value if the Killer is running perks like Overcharge to increase Skill Check difficulty. It’s worth mentioning that Technician also has the effect of decreasing the “hearing distance” of the perk user’s Generator Repairs by 8 meters, meaning it has the potential to be a useful stealth perk. The following proposed changes seek to increase that potential for more experienced players while maintaining the perk’s usefulness for newer players.

1.    Technician should affect all Survivors repairing the Generator with you.

a.     For example: Technician applies the following effects to you and all other Survivors within a 4-meter range

2.    Technician should decrease the penalty for missed Generator Skill Checks rather than increasing it.

a.     For example: Technician reduces the Regression Penalty for missed Generator Repair Skill Checks by 1%/2%/3%

The first change is intended to make it so Technician no longer loses value when repairing a Generator with another Survivor by incorporating the Prove Thyself range mechanic. Since the current version of the perk only effects the Survivor running it, another Survivor can still run up to your Generator and miss a Skill Check, nullifying any stealth afforded you. This change also makes the perk better to run when playing with a newer player in your SWF. You can run this perk to help them learn the basics of Skill Checks while not notifying the Killer.

The second change is intended to bring this perk in line with newer perks like Bite the Bullet, which makes healing actions silent, mutes notifications for missed Skill Checks, and reduces Regression Penalties. This would make it so that if you can mitigate the progress loss by that one random who keeps blowing up the gen, while keeping it fair for Killers.

But what do you think? Are these ideas good or trash?

Good change, way better than we currently have now. I also like technician, but the value you get is so small that sucks.

My changes are the second one you post and...

When you are alone in a generator the repair noises are reduced in 100%, with another survivor a 75%, with two a 50% and with three a 25%.

Very good change. You have my full support. Someone from a recent post also recommended that the sound of the generator itself (on top of the repair noises) should also be reduced so the Killer can’t hear it progressing, which will make it more viable in high level play as well.
