reworking some bad Ultra Rare Add Ons for Killers
hey all!
it probaply doesnt come as a surprise to anyone that we have some pretty terrible UR Add Ons for some Killers.
this post is going to try and buff or outright rework those Add Ons into something that might be better.
as always, if you have any suggestions and / or ideas of your own, please share them down below!
(i will also be going in menu order - if i dont mention a Killer that means i like their UR Add Ons the way they currently are - also, please keep in mind this is just my personal opinion, which may differ from yours)
The Nurse
Torn Bookmark
A white and pristine piece of ribbon once attached to a sacred book. Serves as a symbol of dispute.
- adds 1 Blink charge.
Matchbox
A matchbox containing an odd collection of mismatched buttons. Serves as a reminder of a horrible place.
- removes 1 Blink charge.
- increases The Nurses base movementspeed to 4.4 m/s.
The Huntress
Unidentifiable Pouch (previously: Soldier's Puttee)
A mysterious pouch of unknown origin. Seemingly made out of The Fog itself, it appears to always be filled with whatever its wearer needs the most.
- passively refills 1 Hatchet every 20 seconds.
- can not go over the existing carry limit.
The Shape
Judith's Tombstone
A large and heavy granite tombstone stolen from Mt. Sinclair cemetery, belonging to Judith Myers.
- Unlocks the ability to kill healthy, injured, or dying Survivors with Evil Within III.
- Disables the ability to stalk with Evil Within III.
- Tremendously increases the amout of evil required to gain Evil Within III for the first time.
- Moderately decreases movementspeed.
- downing a Survivor in Evil Within III results in its duration being reduced by 30%.
The Hag
Waterlogged Shoe
A child's shoe, long lost in the bog's waters. The trapped life essence within unlocks tremendous potential in The Hag's power.
- Survivors triggering a Phantasm Trap get their aura revealed to you for 10 seconds.
- Increases The Hag's movementspeed tremendously for a short time after teleporting to a Phantasm Trap.
The Nightmare
Black Box
A black cardboard box filled with photographs.
While Survivors are in the Dream World:
- Uppon entering an exit gate, it gets blocked for them for 15 seconds.
The Clown
Tattoo's Middle Finger
The prized middle finger of a large tattooed man. Has a faint taste of machinery oil.
- Survivors become immune to the effects of the Afterpiece Antidote.
- Survivors entering the Antidote cloud will still be cured of any Afterpiece Tonic effects.
The Legion
Fuming Mix Tape
Dark beats, violent shreds and unfathomable vocals from another world fill the mind with a vibrating sixth sense.
- Tremendously decreases fatigue after Feral Frenzy ends.
- The auras of all Survivors inflicted with Deep Wound are revealed for 4 seconds after Feral Frenzy ends.
The Ghostface
Outdoor Security Camera
A small security camera that filmed Ghost Face breaking into a house on Belleview Road in Northern Roseville. The camera was positioned at the perfect angle to catch a glimpse of Ghost Face without providing any real clues to the police.
- The auras os all Survivors inside of your Terror Radius are revealed for 4 seconds when a Marked Survivor is put into the dying state.
"Ghost Face Caught On Tape"
Tape obtained by Olsen to write an article that terrorized Roseville.
- Tremendously increases the rate at which a Survivor becomes Marked when leaning from cover.
- Moderately increases the rate at which a Survivor becomes Marked when not leaning from cover.
The Oni
Iridescent Family Crest
A crest that denotes its owner as being a part of the Yamaoka family.
- While Blood Fury is active, missing a Demon Strike will cause all Survivors within a 24-meter radius to scream and reveal their current location to you.
- Tremendously reduces the missed attack recovery speed for missing a Demon Strike.
The Deathslinger
Hellshire Iron
The Hellshire Gang's branding iron. Despite folklore, it never made its mark on new inmates, instead having been used to brand particulary quarrelsome bounties.
- For as long as a Survivor remains speared and 3 seconds after, the auras of all Survivors outside of your Terror Radius are revealed.
Iridescent Silencer (previously: Iridescent Coin)
A strange silencer, seemingly crafted out of The Fog itself. It fits the Redeemer perfectly.
- The Redeemers gunshots can only be heard within a 10-meter radius.
The Executioner
Iridescent Seal Of Metatron
A talisman with an odd design inscribed on it. The Entity's influence seems to have altered it.
- a Survivor rescuing another Survivor from a Cage of Atonement will become Tormented.
- When sending a Survivor to a Cage of Atonement, the auras of all Survivors suffering from Torment are revealed for 4 seconds.
Obsidian Goblet
An ancient looking goblet carved from pure obsidian.
- The Executioner gains the Undetectable status effect when standing on a Rites of Judgement trail.
- Tremendouly increases the duration that Rites of Judgement trails stay in the environment.
The Twins
rework the whole Killer.
The Nemesis
Iridescent Umbrella Badge
A glass-like badge moulded from The Fog itself. It represents a corporation that pushed far beyond ethical and human science.
- Vaccinated Survivors that are hit by a Tentacle Strike will be contaminated as usual, but also take damage.
- using a Vaccine no longer triggers a Killer Instinct on the Survivor.
Shattered S.T.A.R.S. Badge
A symbol of hope for Racoon City, utterly destroyed.
- For each repaired generator, zombie movementspeed permanently increases moderately up to 4 times.
(for reference, the Zombies would be as fast as they currently are with the Add On when the 4th generator is repaired)

I definitely am a fan of some of these ideas. Only ones I’m curious about. If a tormented survivor takes another survivor from a cage would it still cure torment under the effect of that addon? Also when we say tremendously reduce oni’s cooldown what % were you thinking for that? And lastly I don’t think giving nurse any more blinks is a good idea.

the idea behind the Executioner Add On was centered a bit around how Furtive Chase works.
the Survivor that is send to a Cage of aAtonement have their Torment cured, while the rescuer gets inflicted with it.
if the rescuer is already inflicted with Torment, they would just keep it.
i dont really know how balanced that would be though, so maybe, should it prove to be too much, i would not mind saying that Tormented Survivors will be healed off their Torment, while healthy Survivors would get inflicted with it. it would certainly add some interesting strategies to the game.
for the Onis Family Crest, the "tremendous" as it currently stands has no direct value attached to it.
due to it being the only Add On that could effect his missed hit cooldown for Demon Strikes, there isnt really anything to compare it with as of right now.
personally i was imagining something like the time after a missed attack being reduced roughly by 50%, due to Oni being in a timelimited ability, that wont allow him to just walk around, bonking the ground all the time, i wanted him to be able to keep some momentum while using the Add On.
as for the Nurses Add Ons, i essentially just took the already existing ones and buffed them.
the Torn Bookmark (which adds the bonus blink) i removed the huge downside of not being able to blink through walls from and the Matchbox got buffed to make her a 110% mms Killer rather than a 105% mms Killer, in exchange for one of her blinks.
those two i definitely agree could be extremely strong when combined together, but if im being honest, Nurse is a very hard case for me to make any balanced suggestions for, considering the entirety of her basekit is already utterly broken.
the way i feel about her right now is, that if you encounter a great Nurse player, it really wont matter whether they run those Add Ons or not, you will die anyway.
So i guess in a way the Twins treatment applies here too, where the best course of action would be to just rework the base Killer and then add balanced UR Add Ons to their new power afterwards.

I am personally not a fan of current iri add-on design. for one, these add-on are suppose to be.... ultra rare and when we say.. ultra-rare... its suppose to be extremely hard to get but in reality, the add-on rarity is far too easy obtain. you should like only be able to get them 1 in 50 million BP or something or perhaps you can only get a copy of pair if you reach rank 1 at end of the season by choosing it as a reward at the end of the season on single character. also Black ward should not be able to work on them.
The other problem with these add-on are that in my opinion, they're suppose to be to level of old ebony mori in power, they're suppose to be very unfair to play against to the point that they "almost" auto win for the game for killer and many of them are not of that nature.
An sample would be:
Ghostface:
Iri add-on 1: Survivors that reveal ghostface are exposed for 30 seconds, When ghostface is revealed, Night shroud cooldown is refreshed.
Iri add-on 2: Leaning stalk can no longer expose the survivor. Performing a leaning stalk will instantly increase stalk meter to 99%.
Deathslinger:
Iri add-on 1: Increases Deathslinger harpoon ammo carry capacity by 1.
Iri add-on 2: Survivors hit by the harpoon are inflicted by expose status effect.
Nurse:
Iri add-on 1: Add 1 blink charge. Tremendously decreases blink power recovery rate.
iri add-on 2: Tremendously decreases blink charge time, Tremendously increases blink distance and Blink movement speed.
Will you ever escape a deathslinger that has 2 shots and instant downs or Ghostface that has undetectable+instant downs? probably not but it would be a very difficult challenge to attempt to win. I am not sure what survivor iri add-on would be.... they technically used to exist... like old brand new parts/instant heals/instant blinds but I feel it is weird to be powerful on the side that is suppose to be "challenged".
I wonder if this would encourage more people to play DBD to get to rank 1 every season on both sides or would it just create lop-sided games?

those sound extremely overpowered.
i think the best way to approach those Add Ons is by making them strong and fun.
give the Killer some unique mechanics that are only obtainable with those specific Add Ons equipped for example.
one thing you got to keep in mind is the fun of the people that have to go up against that.
i can guarantee you, everyone would DC on a Deathslinger with instant down shots who can shoot twice before reloading - and i couldnt really blame them for that.
games against that would be over in about 5 minutes, the Survivors would literally not stand a chance.
maybe think about it the other way around:
would you, as the Killer, want to have the old Brand New Part back? you know, the one that instantly repaired a generator in exchange for the Toolbox?
would you have fun going against a group of people bringing 4 of these, instantly repairing 4 out of 5 gens in about 30 seconds?
i know i wouldnt.
and therefore i think it was the right call to nerf them to be what they currently are.
and i would really not want to repeat that mistake of having such OP stuff in the game again.

yeah i'd argue that iri add-on have very little reason to exist in current iteration of the game. that's why 90% of them are pure meme add-ons and 10% are either somewhat close to good or ideas of what could be strong add-on if tweaked a little bit.
perhaps if the game was more casual, than maybe this would be ok. It might be that i am trying solve different issue which is why would a casual player want to "rank up" and keep playing DBD continuously? what would increase casual player retention and fun factor?
though just saying, facing 3 blink nurse and old omega blink nurse add-on is not too different from facing deathslinger with those add-ons.

The Nurse: Addons thenselves? YES!!! Their combination? TOO OP! I mean Nurse is already good but you could give nurse like that for the successful hit you gain 4.2m/s and you can still keep blinking and let's stay with that removed blink.
The Huntress: Love it! Although 30 seconds maybe could be already good :)
The Shape: I wanna see that in practice. But I think this addon is already kinda cool. But very demanding.
The Hag: Very well done here. It needs to be shown to the killers and eventually make some changes :D
The Nightmare: I think I know what you mean here. Is it like the killer who has the gate blocked at the certain distance? And i would make it for each survivor. Love it a lot!
The Clown: Could be a very rare addon here even. Still nice job here.
The Legion: Not sure how to respond to that. Srsly, like i like the fatigue duration but idk if aura for deep wound here is necessary here. Maybe affect it to other survivors.
The Ghostface: It's better to make it outside the terror radius. First you hit, then the terror radius gets back. But the second addon hmm... It needs change, yes but not a huge fan of it.
The Oni: Ok. Like it :)
The Deathslinger: Remove 3 seconds and the this addon is perfect! Monitor and abuse will do the rest. And that coin... Don't know... Ok, I can accept that.
The Executioner: I have another idea for the cages addon. You could also make it that tormented survivor stays tormented after saving a survivor from cages. But yours seems to be even slightly above for ultra rare addons. Nice.
The Twins: LMAO! Especially victor who can't behave like a killer like simple vaulting or doing sth with gens.
The Nemesis: I don't like the sound of that. Maybe give the great restriction towards zombies or his one of 3 power tiers. But like the idea of zombie movement speed. making it to 5 would also be nice :D
Overall you made a nice job with addons IMO. Consider changing huntress second addon. Like give instadown when hitting from 15 meters and further. Sth like that. Make further ideas soon cuz this one is awesome :DDD
