SBMM Feedback

First and foremost, I think that SBMM will be good for the game, but it has to be able to appropriately gauge one's skill - so far, I think it still has a way to go in that regard. (I actually feel like the 2nd SBMM trial was the closest to good matchmaking in my experience.)

I play survivor side, maybe 80%-90% of the time. All of them solo queue. Ranking-wise, I usually float around Rank 3-5.  The SBMM for my survivor side seems ok - maybe slightly easier games than before (due to having more reliable 'teammates'), but for the most part, I can see it averaging out to around 2 kills for the killer, and me surviving maybe 1/3 of the time.

The killer side, on the other hand, has been really difficult. The SBMM matches I've been having have been resulting in mostly 0 kills and 0-5 hooks. Survivors have been running in circles around me - you know, the types of games which is less focused on completing the gens, and more on making life difficult for the killer as much as possible. This goes for all killers, including ones that I haven't played for over a year, and also ones I usually rely on when I do play the killer side for bloodpoint events.

Given that I've been experiencing this hardships with killers I haven't played in a year or so during this SBMM trial, perhaps it's because of the adjustments you've made to 'non-played' killers, raising their rating to some degree so that they are not paired with completely new survivors - though I think that's a great idea, I think it might be raised a little too much - especially for those playing on consoles who already have a difficult time 'aiming' and 'turning around quickly'. As I'm sure you are aware, certain killers have a much higher learning curve on console players due to having controller and fps issues.

For the killers that I do play more often, I think part of the reason why the rating seems to be so high comparatively to my actual skill level is because I don't play that much - which means that my Rank is usually super-low (usually around Rank 12-17). When playing by the current "Ranking" System, I most of the time do really well (3-4 kills, 8+ hooks) - which means that according to the "SBMM System", my rating should be raised much more - but that's only based on the opponents the Ranking system chooses for me.

I don't personally have a problem losing multiple times in a row. But the problem is that if SBMM is functioning correctly, it should not let me start having "easier" matches just because I'm losing. After all, if this is a "skill-based" matchmaking, most of the time, the players' skills would be improving, but skills generally don't 'worsen', right? If people can simply get "easier" games by purposely not playing well - it will end up as another Ranking System where people will just derank to below their actual skill level - and nobody wants that.

But that is more of a reason to not boost players' ratings unnecessarily way beyond their actual skill level - because this new system should typically flow in one direction. If the rating algorithm places player way beyond where they actually are, and it's really difficult to then lower the rating, that would mean that they are stuck playing the same types of game beyond where they are suited for. And I'd venture to guess that most people will be too frustrated to keep playing if that happens.

Just to make sure what my personal experience correlates with others, can you take a look at the killing rate for console players who rarely play killers, and see if their killing rate have tanked during this SBMM trial?
