Why do the devs hate Hillbilly?
People could get over the overheat you added
If you gave him clean animations where survivors don’t vanish
If you gave him good hit boxes not hitting a tree 3 ft away
If you gave him fair but good add-ons
But, you gave him none of that often making it a hassle to use him. So why devs do you hate Hillbilly?

He needs an addon buff. But he’s still very much competitive.
1 -
He's unviable. You'd get better results with Leatherface than with him.
21 -
Leatherface has better addons. Hillbillies base kit is better.
1 -
Hillbilly %100 deserved the nerf.
New players still play him the same way they did before, it's the red rank killers who are complaining they can't get insta downs all the time.
3 -
More than anything hillbilly just needs all of his animations completely redone, he's a buggy mess that everyone seems to afraid to touch because he just about works.
2 -
Yes but Leatherface is a 1 trick pony, and Hillbilly isn't even that.

Oh no, a high skill high reward killer that was fun to play but had legitimate counter play and by the devs own admission the better player usually came out on top in chases with Billy. Was insta saw or crack billy too much? absolutely but overheat and his other nerfs were super unnecessary and really only served to make him less fun to play and turn him into a unicorn of a killer
22 -
I used to 1 trick main him, he's all I played when I first really got into killer and although I still think he's a good killer he's not nearly as much fun as before (and no I didn't use insta saw outside of literally just testing it out once and realizing how absolutely busted it was). That along with killers like blight, buffed wraith, and reworked bubba he just slipped by the way side and I barely play him anymore and almost never see him played while survivor.

lol seeing people say that the overheat mechanic was a good addition is the reason billy will probably not get changes in the future at all. Its so sad cause i used to love playing billy (i played without instasaw or crackbilly addons) and he was so much fun. now its just annoying to play him honestly.
2 -
Hate to say it, but Bubba has a WAY better base-kit than Billy.
3 -
Hillbilly absolutely needed a meter
Infectious Fright Billy was a braindead easy way to get wins

Being a high-skill killer doesn't mean you get to obliterate everyone once you master said skill. His flick was uncounterable, and while Blight is able to flick like him, it's not a one-shot.
Yes, he was for many the most fun killer to face, but his nerf was deserved. What I don't understand is why they nerfed him when Nurse is much worse in this regard, being able to score easy 4ks after being mastered.

More like survivors were braindead for going down instantly against one of the easiest killers in the game to loop.
You know that Oni is high tier and better than Billy specifically for his snowball potential with Infectious, right?

I don’t understand the complaint threads about Hillbilly- do you guys play Survivor? There are some REALLY good Billy’s out there. I’ll admit he’s no longer a popular character, but when I saw him pre-SBMM, he was a force to be reckoned with. A lot of Billy mains can kick ass even without his best turning add-ons. They know their maps, and are able to anticipate movement. Very seldom to they bump into anything. They use info and gen slowdown perks. Rarely do they M1. Seen enough 4K with just the chainsaw in Red Ranks. No face camping and no tunneling needed.
I imagine however, like most of the killer cast- he struggles against gawd tier 4 man squads. They somehow can bait/misdirect last second and avoid insta downs, even in tight quarters. I’m sure you’ll get a few of those who can do that in Solo que as well, but then you need to realize it’s not best to continue the chase and save them for last. Go for someone weaker.

Bubba can safely use his chainsaw in almost any loop and is a consistent monster in dead zones. Billy suffers from being heavily map-reliant, and since curving takes multiple attempts at times, you're bound to overheat without heat dissipation add-ons. Even in his best maps, you'll still struggle in loops Bubba can dominate. Oh and Bubba is WAY more forgiving.
The Punctured Muffler add-on recovers your chainsaw a lot faster and makes him more enjoyable to play as.

You mean Instasaw Billy? How was Infectious Billy broken?
3 -
????????
survivors and killers said he was balanced
even BHVR said he was the most balanced killer.
9 -
He had counter play though, you had to mind game to land a saw on a good survivor at a jungle gym or any window and Billy's flick is nowhere near as controllable as blight's, I went to blight after Billy and he's been my main ever since.
Blight's rush is magnitudes easier to land and admittedly its not a one shot but even without it its still probably stronger then even old Billy base kit and he has his own absolutely bonkers addons (namely alchemist ring), his nerf was in no way deserved since yeah he could stomp players if they killer was better then the survivors but that's how it should be.
Insta saw brought up his skill floor immensely though and definitely needed a nerf but his base kit was about as close to balanced as bhvr has ever been and with overheat and the changing of some of his not broken but good addons into basically useless addons has really brought down his fun factor below what, seemingly, most find to be worth the effort, too the point where barely anyone plays him which is an absolute travesty imo.

I am a hillbilly main since a very long time (rank1 forever). I already knew that he is not viable (after the nerf) against good survivors, but since the newest mmr test, i get constantly matched against good teams (most of the survivor that i can check the profiles on steam had several thousand hours).
I get only a few hooks and 1 kill if i camp the last guy.
People that say hillbilly is good, i am sorry to say, have no idea.
First: He has a lot of bad maps : Indoor maps like Lerys, new Raccoon city, midwitch, and kind of the game he cant really use his mobility.
There are some maps, like new coldwind (unless you play a top tier killer you are out of luck, too many strong tiles), springwood, and mc millan, where there are too many save pallets/strong tiles, so a hillbilly will not be able to use his m2 to down people.
I am sorry but if you perform good with hillbilly, it means you are playing against bad survivors. A good survivor will not be caught in a deadzone where you can charge your m2 and backrev them. They will force you to m1 them after tedious looping, of course you will get downs, but you will have 0 chance to 4k.
Of course you can easily 4k a team of bad survivors with him, and on a good open map, where he can use his mobility, he feels powerful.
It doesn't matter anyway, i have given up on the game, played several thousand hours myself, it was fun, but the constant influx of new bugs (often the same bugs return that they fixed some time ago) and the fact that you have to wait sometimes years before the devs fix the most obvious problems has reached a point where i have had enough.

Saw one guy down -> instantly at the next guy to saw down -> instantly at the next guy to saw down

BHVR did not say that. The term "most balanced Killer" was made up by the Community. And it was made up in 2018 already.
The game got way easier for Killers over the years, logical that the "most balanced Killer" is not the most balanced Killer anymore, when the game got easier.
1 -
-> easiest killers in the game to loop
Except for the part where he flicks around corners and can instadown while you're locked in the vault animation
-> Oni is better than Billy with Infectious
Yes and Oni has a MASSIVE cooldown period when he uses his power
0 -
They are also usually quite laggy and their actual position is incorrect.
0 -
Curves are rather predictable and have plenty of counterplay especially without the movement speed of the Engravings which he didn't have with Insta saw combos; also not every loop is very practical to curve.
Oni starts with no power compared to Billy but he makes up for it by having much better add-ons and being way more lethal when he does get his power.
1 -
Have I been playing a different game? Billy was fun but being hit with an insta flick was not fair nor did it have a counter.
0 -
Hillbilly flicks take quite a bit of time to set up,are pretty predictable and rather easy to dodge most of the time.
Especially without engravings.
I think you really overestimate Billys slugging potential.
He's only able to slug as much as survivors allow him
1 -
They did say though "hes in mostly a spot they are comfortable with" and the better player normally comes out on top "and they are pretty happy with how he performs so the changes are slight" the overheat and addon murders isnt slight at all.
2 -
if you couldn't counter curves the issue was between the keyboard and the chair

The Devs did say that they wanted to use Billy as sort of the power level stcik when designing new killers and reworking/buffing older killers.... when they stated this it was before the nerf. in which case they did sort of give the nod that Billy was indeed the most balanced killer in the game.. ofcourse this was like 2 years ago.
1 -
Yeah, this is the one sentence everyone uses when they try to defend old Billy. The Nerf was deserved, a Killer with such a mobility and an easy to use Instadown which also was quite forgiveable became too much over the years.
The only thing I wish they would change is the FOV, this is ######### up since they decided to change his animations at some point. It gets better with Shadowborn, but eh.

Yeah seeing billy even less than twins or hag is great. Every time I went against a billy I remember thinking how they should delete him so I can face killers who are actually fun to go against, like spirit and freddy, preferably just spirit and freddy over and over again and again and again, and my prayers were answered ❤️

No his add-ons are total trash. You have to run one overheat add-on so you’re not punished for using your power. Other examples. Shorter rev but you’re 4.4. Quicker cool down when you have a flashlight on you. After a hit you’re undetectable. They’re mostly trash
2 -
And it’s worst then a Nurse, Oni, Blight or any good snowball killer with Infectious?
2 -
Idk he isn't the only one. On the survivor side they haaaate Kate. I could write a laundry list of why I believe so tbh.
0 -
Because the update sucked lots of the old enjoyment out of them. You need to run a overheat add on to not be punished for using your power. Can’t rely on shorter dev add-one since one you become 4.4. And another you need to be pallet stunned and only for 30 seconds. You have awful animations where survivors can vanish off your screen because your fov is weakened. Hit boxes are a joke they don’t bump into things on purpose but for some reason still hit objects that don’t even touch the chainsaw. He’s not as strong as he use to but the fun in him was zapped.
0 -
And not forget map design. His high mobility feels getting more and more limited by random stuff on the map or new maps beeing designed in a way, that he can use his high mobility less than other killers.
0 -
They said those things because some of the devs didn't like Billy and really wanted to nerf him, but couldn't come up with better wording without sounding blatantly biased.
0 -
That it is also strong on Killers like Oni and Nurse does not make it less strong on Billy.
In general, Infectious Fright is a problematic Perk IMO, almost useless on most Killers and oppressive on a select few (most likely those who are already really strong).
0 -
great news ... guys who picked this killer are so funny ;)
0 -
Find a window or a pallet, it's not that hard. If you're near the survivor that just got downed, that's on you.
2 -
They nerfed him too hard / drastic... he has only some 2/3 good addons let's say, others are trash just. If i play surv, i rarely.. like very rarely see a billy... I play both surv / killer, and because of that, from like 1 week i started to play him, he is still fun.. but true, against good player he struggles a lot..
0 -
Lol the fact that you think the collision add on is good goes to show you have never actually played with it.
As it actively REDUCES THE ATTACKING HITBOX OF THE CHAINSAW!
It should be granting BP for how much it gimps your power.
0 -
Overheat is just a bad idea, You have to play perfectly or be an m1 killer. If you miss a few saws or try to get more than 1 down you just overheat and turn into an m1 killer. Please remove overheat
