why not changing hawkins instead of removing it?
I dont know if this can be done, or if the license will still be a problem.
But what if they let the "layout" of the map and change the look of it?
For example it can became the mc millan mine... just change the texture to make it look like a mine...
Will it be that difficult?
(im using the mine as an example, a variant of the doc map can work as well or the nurse asylum...)

They have said they will not do that
I'm...not sure why. Seems like a lot of work to just toss down the drain but I'm not a video game lawyer scientist so maybe there's a good reason.

They should just flip the entire map. That's how you get past youtube copywrite.

Because there is possibility of them getting licence back. So they'll just freeze any content untouched

They should re-use the layout, but alter it enough to not be an exact copy. Remove one area but add another. Reskin the whole thing to have a completely different look. The layout could easily fit various themes such as a Mineshaft, Cave System, a Prison, An Alleyway, etc.
The layout can be easily reused. Heck, they have done it before with other maps (minus the suggested skin swap.) It is entirely possible that the Stranger Things license could return, and with it, Hawkins. That is why I suggest a skin swap AND altering the layout in some way. That way, should Hawkins return, we could have both and not worry about two completely identical maps.
Just my thoughts on it.

They haven't got time, they have to release more cute, cuddly and neon cosmetics

There's two reasons that I can think of: one is that remodeling, redesigning, and retexturing an existing map can take just as long as creating a new map and that costs money. It's not difficult, it's costly.
The second is that BHVR might be able to regain the license and bring Hawkins back and trying to fake the funk of the original map will probably royally piss off the license owners. If I owned it, I know it would piss me off, enough to never do business with them again. So BHVR is just playing nice and not trying to rock any boat.

They could change it to be the Trickster map. (His main menu on release.)
The hallways become alleys, the rooms are small buildings with doors/broken walls.
Not sure about the upstairs area though.

There's probably something that prevents them from altering content made for a licensed chapter into a different map I guess.

I think it’s like the name of the perks being changed as well as the images, they can’t change the map name to “Abandon Lab” or something like that because of the licensing deal maybe?

You cant blame the art team for doing their Job. Art team is responsible for cosmetics and not performance or balance or anything else

The team in charge of the the game should get there preferences right. Art team are good, but the release team should prioritise other things that the playerbase wants.

Yeah i guess but maybe cosmetics just get done faster or something

I'm glad the map is going not gonna lie. I hate it. Too small and cramped. I'm not a fan of indoor maps in general, with the exception of the Meat Packing plant, but The lab and Lerys are particularly annoying. I see a lot of people who openly hate the map so maybe they think it's not worth it.
