This meta turned me into a ruthless tunneller
I don't see any other possibility to have a winning chance in this game anymore.
3 gen strat gets broken by Prove Thyself / Built to Last Toolbox in less than 50 seconds.
Hooking more than 2 different survivors will get me nothing when the gens pop up in 5 minutes. Split damage, hit n run is dumpstered by Circle of Healing. Mass slugging never works because someone always has Unbreakable, and survivors can reset under CoH in 10 seconds. Dead Hard robbing me of precious seconds, DS/BT respect.
I started running Noed on every m1 killer, Pop/Corrupt always mandatory. Cant run BBQ simply because i have no time to traverse a map to find a survivor i havent hooked yet. It feels like killers have less and less options to be viable in this game.
Im really glad that they nerfed keys, but god damn i feel like playing killer is getting worse over time. Seriously, CoH was a mistake. BHVR should tone it down a bit, but also do something with base gen regression. Things like 5% regression apply when the generator is kicked, and base regression is increased by 50%. Small careful changes that will make killers life a little easier. Mangled with its 20% slowdown is outdated, when all new survivor healing perks have 100% increasement.
Im afraid that if BHVR keeps this trend of giving overbuffed perks for survivors, the only killers left in this game will be 3 blink Nurses with Noed and 3 slowdowns.

I feel your pain.
I've played a lot of killer until sbmm was implemented, after that it was just a sweat fest after sweat fest after sweat fest after sweat fest.
Now i don't mind to try hard, but every single game is getting boring to me, especially as you said that gens pop like crazy.
I can't run anything other than meta perks, if I want to try and do a different build then the game is already over before it even started.
So I just switched to survivor for the time being, when they get rid of the ######### sbmm then i might return to killer again, cause right now it's just no fun anymore.

what killer are you maining? i know dbd isn't a conventional competitive like fighting games, but there's been an established tier list of killers. trapper is still pretty pathetic even after the buff for example.
0 -
Right now i play either Trapper or Huntress.
0 -
That’s your problem Huntress is great but don’t expect to win as trapper at high ranks you can only win if you use strong addons
0 -
I've been hard tunneled countless times in my years of dbd. I know that killer is a joke right now, it's literally unwinnable most of the time. But I'd rather lose if it means that I'm not ruining people's matches like I've had so many of mine ruined. If the only way to win and have fun as killer is to tunnel survivors to death at 5 gens then I'd rather just lose.
4 -
My problem that i want to have fun playing favourite killer, without stress and need to sweat every game? I struggle as Huntress too, despite you claiming she is great. She is slow, too map dependant, relies on survivor mistakes to snowball, when its harder now with CoH totems.
And i also dont see viability in many other killers besides trapper. Unless they all use Iri/Broken addons with best meta perks, and they'll still probably need to tunnel. This is all due to the fact gens can be done so fast in this game, compared to chase times against good survivors with DH.
So i genuinely believe that the only killers playable without tunneling now are Blight and Nurse, because of map mobility. Spirit idk, i never played her.
I dont use best addons on these killers, i cant have constant supply of Iri's on trapper, but i guess i should try to use it and see if it can reduce tunneling.

Honestly u win as Trapper if survivors do something stupid. It's not about addons, it's about how hard they mess up.
3 -
All killers are pathetic. Only nurse (when mastered) and Spirit are efficient enough to have fair games.
Blight is way too hard to handle for the common player playing him. Honestly the turn rate is way too low for him to be good enough. Not mentioning the tons of bump bugs where you slide instead of bumping.
Only good Blight around is Lilith and he has thousands of hours with him... if you need to put 3000 hours into a single killer to be efficient, what is the point ?

Its not your fault for having to work with a broken system. Killers are not born they are made.

Recently i had a match where 2 survivors stepped simultaneously in traps, and i downed the third one. I was paranoid that if i'll go for the 4th survivor, they will recover with Unbreakable. So i got only two hooks out of this situation, and they quickly recovered under Circle of Healing totem. I was right though, there was an Unbreakable on one of them.

Until they buff killer you need to tunnel that is the current state of the game.
7 -
Devs in this game really make me question their knowledge of the actual gameplay every patch.
5 -
Playing killer has been so rough. And yes they need to do something about base regression because it’s useless to kick a gen unless you have pop.
3 -
They don't.
They balance the game to their own incompetence instead of listening to the higher level of players.
If they don't like something or have a problem with something, they'll change it.
It's not wrong to change to your liking, but unfortunately it can ruin the game, which in this game it's actually happening.

Once VHS will be out, if the killer gameplay is more engaging and fun than in DbD, all killers will go on VHS and DbD will die definitely.
And seeing the first gameplay videos, it looks like the interaction between the survivors and the monster requires skill, strategy and smart plays.
1 -
If you think it is a right decision and won't backfire during a match, do it.
Once upon a time I was frustrated by everything killers did when I played survivor, but after sbmm I understand there is no much luxury anymore to follow rulebooks because I play killer too.
If you don't bm me I don't mind being tunneled at all. But, it is not always the smartest idea to focus on certain person. Try to make the right decisions. Although, sometimes you won't be able to do jack ish unfortunately unless you play top killers.
Do whatever you feel you have to do, just don't bm and send nasty messages. That is my rulebook from now on lol.

DS is sooooo META because of you =r style :D

Vhs looks interesting but so did ft13th, last year and resident evil resistence. We need something that can really compete. Im talking a WoW vs FF14 situation.

They literally nerfed circle of healing from the PTB. Imagine if the PTB COH made it to live? Stackable boons with an even larger radius and 2x faster the healing? If this version is making you play in a such a way I can only imagine what the old version would have done to you.
1 -
Well, if it was originally meant to be this broken, then im greatly disappointed in devs balancing once again. They really thought it was a good idea to introduce this perk in an even more broken state, huh? Also the fact it was nerfed once doesnt mean its fine now.
1 -
It wasn't even nerfed that bad they only removed the stacking portion which was so broken.
0 -
The meta didn't make you play like that. You chose it because it was easier. Nothing wrong with playing the game how you like to but don't paint it as your hand being forced because people run good perks.
1 -
Many DbD streamers have said that the VHS' gameplay is great and very well balanced. We will see i guess...
But you should check the Dowsey's gameplay video, the game looks so polished it's incredible.
1 -
when does that game come out?
0 -
No date for now but the game will soon launch its Open BETA.
I really hope BHVR will fix the balance before 2022... DbD needs it now as never before.
0 -
okay I might check it out.
0 -
Im not playing like this because its easier. Im playing like this because CoH made the survivor meta even more broken than before. Effortless reset every time they make a mistake, any injury healed up in 10 seconds. Thats faster than i can hit someone then close the hold W distance. Multiple injuries are worthless as well. I was able not to focus on tunneling this hard before, now its impossible if i want a chance to win.

I'm not having problems playing Killer unless I play Trapper and even then, I really don't need to resort to tunneling. I'm not seeing how everyone is "supposedly" having problems unless you are expecting 4ks every game. You should be averaging 2ks and 2es and that's exactly what I'm getting.
I think maybe part of the issue is that there is a lot of new Killers being handicapped by relying on tunneling and camping and not moving up to the more advanced techniques for handling gen speeds.
Tunneling and Camping are elementary school tactics, you need to learn middle school and high school techniques for managing gen speeds.
2 -
I disagree about camping/tunneling being "elementary school tactics". Killers have to do it a lot to secure one kill when the match isn't going in their favor.
2 -
Lillith has 1k hours on blight.
0 -
It's something every Killer learns when they first get the game. Its easier to learn than using the killers power correctly. Yes, it's a very elementary school tactic.
0 -
All killers do it.
2 -
What advanced techniques? Praying that survivors dont focus on gens too hard? I guess im still a new killer after 2k hours and didnt learn that advanced techniques.
2k's and 2e's can be achieved by tunneling + NOED, i dont consider this a good result.
0 -
That is totally untrue. I don't tunnel and NOED and easily get 2k/2e, on average.
0 -
Depends on what killer you play and what addons you use. If you wanna tell me that you consistently get "fair" 2k's on trapper i find it hard to believe.
0 -
MMR adjusts to your game play, so yes, I get an average of 2ks on Trapper. There's definitely games where I don't get any kills and there's games where I get 4ks.
Trapper is also one of my mains.
And what will amaze you more is that I don't always use a gen slowing down perk with Trapper.
0 -
Nah i dont buy it. You need to tunnel or camp someone as Trapper when you have an opportunity. Maybe your definition of tunneling is a bit stricter. What i mean by that is going only for 2 survivors, and ignoring 2 others. This way i avoid DS/BT shenanigans. Im not necessarily hard focusing only one guy, but if i have an opportunity i will eliminate someone as fast as i can.
You said that MMR keeps you at that point, where you get one match against really good team, another against mediocre. I noticed that as well, i get 4man escapes in one match, maybe a 2-3k in another. Still not a 2k average. And i dont believe its possible especially without slowdown perks. Something is amiss.
0 -
Imagine having 1000 hours on a single killer. The gampelay is not engaging enough to play exclusively one killer for years...
0 -
It is with blight tbh. with others I agree.
0 -
The MMR adjusts to how you play. Trapper is one of the weaker killers, if not the weakest killer. MMR adjusts to that. Now my definition of tunneling is different than yours.
When I say tunneling, I mean proxy-tunneling. Basically staying within heart-beat range of the hook and solely going after the hooked person, until they are eliminated from the game.
However, I don't intentionally go after 2 survivors and ignore the other 2 either. If I run into one I've hooked previously before, I'll hook them again. But that's more because I don't keep track of the survivors I've hooked, specifically to go after them again. I use to do that when I was first learning killer but I don't do that now.
MMR will adjust to your playstyle if you let it and it will average out to 2ks 2es. It may take a lot of games, but it will adjust.
And yes, I will play games without slowdown perks on Trapper. It's harder, but not impossible. I definitely don't do it all the time but I do every once in a while. If I get Red Forest without slowdown perks, I'll most likely get 0k. But maps like Coal Tower, it's not that bad.
0 -
Yeah, that and the radius of it. If old COH made it to live though all hell would break loose. It’s still not that strong in my opinion.
0 -
Might be but Blight requires too much dedication to be effective.
I haven't 1000h to spend on a single character just to get gud with it, especially when this character represents 2% of what the game has to offer :(
0 -
I do agree that CoH is very broken, but even then if that's such a huge problem for you run stuff to counter it. Play plague or run sloppy so that the heal takes a little longer. Undying helps too. You have to adapt to the new meta as it is rn.
0 -
ima guess your playing nurse or twins
nurse kinda has to because deadhard destroys her power
twins already all tunneled
0 -
Even though Blight is considered as a Tier S killer with a high skill ceiling, Lilith, one of the best, if not the best, Blight player still cannot win against High MMR survivors lol
He got 7 hooks on that game. Ormond map.
Dbd is at its worst state compared to the last 3 years. Even top 0,1% killer mains with the best killers can't win. That's crazy.
1 -
Patrick said "We aren't going to increase movement speeds because the game is balanced around 4.6m/s" Except it's not. Base movement speed killers are completely gimped in this current meta. I'm getting to the point where I won't do a daily for a killer that is base movement speed, because it's too damn punishing.
I don't feel like I'm playing against the survivors, but the developers instead, because I have survivors that can't loop for ######### getting away because of dead hard validation and Coh/Shadowstep.

I had a blast this weekend with Trapper/Pig/Nemesis/Trickster. I still find myself bringing a Bag with Trapper. Not sure if it's just habit or not but I been running Trapper Bag with Coffee Grinds. I love CG it has multiple uses (5% haste to next trap/in loops).
Nemesis is really growing on me. The way he can shred through the map once he's upgraded always gets my blood pumping.
0 -
I also feel like sloppy butcher is outdated. It just doesn't stack up to the healing meta at all.
0 -
Here's a Tier 1 killer that got 4 kills with Trickster. It must mean Killer is OP and needs a nerf.
Or maybe, 1 example of a game means absolutely nothing.
