I'm currently playing with Self-Preservation to practice flashlight saves, but although I like the perk's concept it is very underwhelming. What's especially bad is the small range, which means to get value from the perk you must be so close that chances are you are in sight of the killer, but also the fact that it has a very specific requirement and the value it gives is not worth it.
What I propose for this perk is:
- Increase the activation range to at least 24 meters
- Add a slight speed boost upon activation
- increase the duration to 15s
This way it would be easier to activate and it would more easily make the survivor not easy to found.
