Iron Will is blatantly overpowered
No perk should take away an entire killers tracking power, permanently, with zero counter play
Comments
-
overpowered? no
but definitely outdated and should be looked at
5 -
Yep. It needs a timer of 45/60 seconds imo that resets on heal
4 -
That was due to Survivor Players complaining about Stridor
3 -
It’s very overpowered. When a survivor is out of line of sight the killer has two ways to track them, sound and scratch marks. Iron Will completely removes sound from the equation and there’s absolutely nothing the killer can do about it.
If you compare it to other “meta” perks they all have some counter play
- Dead Hard - try and bait it out
- Decisive Strike - wait it out
- Unbreakable - pick up straight away
- Boons - snuff them out
- Borrowed Time - wait it out
there’s at least some ways to counter other strong meta perks (granted it’s only a temporary solution to Boons but that’s an entirely different argument)
but with Iron Will there’s nothing the killer can do, you’ve just got to accept the fact you’re in for a lot harder chases for the rest of the game

Iron Will doesn't remove scratch marks, blood pools, or auras. To claim Iron Will is OP is absurd.
Shadowstep on the other hand...
5 -
Now combine them both and you have one near impossible chase, and god help you if you’re on an indoor map like Midwich or Lery’s
1 -
Most meta perks are older perks and most older perks have no downsides. Older perks, IW included need to be restricted in some way because they are just free with no work on the survivors part and some of if not the strongest effects in the game.

Never saw Iron Will stop a person from dying. One shot them. Make them cough, use aura's, use killer instinct. Use aura flare ups, use blood, use scratch marks, use gens, use footsteps.
3 -
Just like how killers always tell survivors run small game I’m gonna tell you
run bloodhound
2 -
I honestly don't think that anything in DBD is overpowered. But I do agree that Iron Will is stronger than it should be
0 -
But the difference here is you can still find totems even without small game where as even running bloodhound doesn't make survivors make noise it just makes more blood but doesn't bring back the mechanic that one perk completely removes
1 -
What blood? If someone's out of LOS for 5s, there goes any blood.
Seriously, though, if one of your killers is "I need to use sound to find people", one of your perks should not be "AHAH, I MAKE NO SOUND".
1 -
three ways - blood pool, which is quite easy to track imo.
2 -
Lery's has no grass, use your eyes to see the blood pool. why do i even have to say this
1 -
I don't know if DbD is supposed to be balanced around blind people...
2 -
Blood pools.
2 -
I love how their is tons of posts in this thread mentioning blood pools as if their isn't a ton of survivor perks that make you stop bleeding 👍
1 -
Not when there are scratch marks and blood pools and your own ability to hear environment. Even when they are on the other side of the wall you can hear footsteps.
I think if you’re a bad tracker you are going to have issues with this perk regardless if it’s on all the time or not.
1 -
Yes, we love the intentionally killer main nerf threads for the devs eyes.
Blood pools, scratch marks. BLATANTLY OP.
I swear, only the killer mains.
2 -
Yes, they need to nerf tinkerer or pgtw, old uncounterable perks
1 -
Grunts of Pain are not the entire tracking power of a killer.
5 -
It shouldnt work if they're sprinting
1 -
Survivor's footsteps are pretty loud
2 -
Lucky Break
Babysitter (good luck with anyone bringing this perk)
which other ones are there?
0 -
Self preservation i think, not entirely sure
0 -
That’s 3. I just wondered which other ones there were since they made it sound like there was a ton of them.
0 -
That's actually a good idea. Maybe have IW like Lucky Break where it lasts for 40/60/80 seconds then deactivates for the rest of the trial? Just my two cents.

Iron will+ shadow step says hi. No aura reading, no scratch marks, no sound. You cant kill what you cant find, i would say this little idiotic combo pretty much covers all the needs of survivors to prevent even being found. You cant kill what you cant find, you cant one shoot what you cant find, you cant make them coug if you cant find them and injure, same for auras because they are gone, for the most part shadow step blocks ALL aura reading perks and abilities. Try again, you are dead wrong on this
Look above, iron will + shadow step = good luck finding any survivor.
I swear, entitled survivor mains.

It's part of the 'meta' build for a reason.
1 -
where'd you get this info?
2 -
I swear, all the threads are killer mains crying for nerfs.
1 -
There are a few different sites that collect perk stats based on user uploads/screenshots/votes such as:
and
-------------------------------------------------------------------
These sites are NOT official by any means, but they usually reflect the meta pretty accurately...
Edit - Very interesting timing on the topic move
0 -
scratch marks and blood pools don't help with obstacles, but grunts of pain do.
0 -
Shroompy, they just buffed it like three patches ago to do Multiplicative sound dampening rather than additive. It's an insanely strong perk that kills all sounds of injury.
0 -
It was actually because of Spirit with Stridor being an issue.
2 -
Im aware of what it does, but its a strong perk simply because it lasts forever, realize if you add a requirement or a timer the perk suddenly becomes A LOT worst, thats because the effect it self isnt strong enough to go out of your way to get it, its not like MoM where the pay off is actually really good
That being said, do I want the perk changed in some way? A perk that rids a killer of one of their senses without any downside or requirement is not good for the game whatsoever.
0 -
(Sarcasm ahead) We need to also nerf Resilience! Same exact concept, requires survivors to be injured to get any value, unlimited use, no counter-play when used in chase!!!
Thinking twice before posting this... because someone will actually jump on the bandwagon.
1 -
iron will should NOT by any meen of the word make survivors completly silent, it should at best reduce sound up to 75%.
0 -
Iron will so op yet its amazing how 90% of players still dont run especially on loud characters like laurie right. Some killers like legion/oni/plague/doctor/nemesis/clown can easily still spot survivors with it with their power and there is also nurses calling for when an injure survivor trying to heal with iron will can still be seen or that perk that overall lets a killer see a dying survivor forgot what it is call . Survivor breathing/blood trails and scratch marks are other things killers have to easily find survivors. whispers, undying lord so many ways to counter iron will.
I tend to get matches in solo queue where 90% of the time the only boon there is is circle of heal and never a shadow step so as powerful as it is like iron will people hardly if ever use that perk. Heck even with my swf i be like hello people why yall only doing COH only I rather Shadow Step over circle of heal anyday with good old self care so I can hide in shadow from bbq so iron maiden dont expose my behind. Shadow step is beautiful on indoor maps specially midwitch, nurses now cant just blink every single where and win so easily now on indoor maps.

Have you ever stopped to question why that is?
0 -
Iron will like lucky break? No thanks.
1 -
I feel like its less overpowered and more "bugged".
It says nothing about stopping breathing sounds yet it also removes them as well with grunts of pain while injured.
I know its intentional at this point and not a "Bug" but it really shouldn't remove breathing or they should update the text to say that it does.

That's true as well
But I don't want to blame a Killer for using a perk though
