Less Camping and Tunneling with DS & Pop as Basekit
Do you think the there would be less camping and tunneling with DS and Pop as Basekit?
Maybe we would also see more fun perks?

Honestly, doubt it.
But I'd be ok with DS basekit. Not POP, but I'd like Corrupt Intervention basekit instead.

Not sure it would get your intended results. Camping is generally a choice by the killer to throw the game to grief the other team. Tunneling however, has many merits even if DS was basekit.
However, I do agree that if kicking gens was ACTUALLY ######### WORTHWHILE, more killers would be incentivized to go kick gens.

How about the trial warmup thing that was suggested 50 thousand years ago.

But corrupt intervention is not giving the killers a reason to leave the hook.

To my understanding, devs have dropped the idea.

Neither is POP.

Eh...no.
Tunneling is just how killers play. It's a nothing-term in it's current usage.
Rule of 3: If three survivors remain when 3 gens are finished, the killer generally wins unless they make a huge mistake. If there are 4 survivors at 3 gens done, the survivors generally win unless they make a huge mistake.
If you set about 2 hooking everyone before killing them, you are either going to be 4-outed and teabagged all the way to the gates or you were mismatched.
DS is already essentially baseline, as the potential for DS causes killers to have to play around it as if it was there.
To my mind, 'tunneling' only refers to trying to down a survivor directly after they are unhooked as this is the only place where it can feel like a survivor has no way to escape.
If you want to 'fix' tunneling, baseline BT would probably be the better solution.

No. Camping and tunneling happen because Killers NEED to do these things and quite frankly I don't enjoy chases so I tend to play defensively. If the only option becomes non-stop chasing, I'll just quit playing as will many others. Some of us have our ADHD managed and don't need to be 'gogogogo' non-stop to have fun.

It would give all killers the choice to leave the hook for a better benefit. If they decide to camp they loose pop. Or create a new basekit which has limited time to use, if a survivor got hooked.

All killer who need to do it, can do it but maybe there are less killer camping (especially new killer) if they have a greater benefit for leaving the hook.

I don't know the trial warmup thing, I haven't played the alpha 50 years ago. 😂
No I mean I really don't know what you mean with trial warmup.

Maybe, but also a lot more people just hanging out in lockers for 60 seconds lol

Still won't work because just walking away from the hook with no further thought is always a bad idea and will lead to just an escaped survivor. Spreading hooks around early on is a bad idea, period; just because you see 10k hour streamers (and Nurse mains) do it doesn't mean everyone can. What usually happens when you leave a hook is the Survivor gets rescued, healed and back on a gen. You have therefore wasted your time; all you got out of your chase was a single hook and you didn't waste Survivor time by chasing people while the other one is hooked or harassing them off gens. Always be looking to tunnel; you want Survivors out of the game as quick as possible. Playing for Survivor fun is going to result in a lot of losses and if you don't know when to tunnel/camp, when to patrol the area and how to waste Survivor time by forcing them to commit to a rescue. Run specific detection perks to maintain map awareness until you have the game sense to not need it - Spies From the Shadows is the best detection perk and nobody runs Calm Spirit or avoids crows so it is 100% map awareness all the time and using it will make it easy to watch a hook while patrolling 3 or 4 gens; more on a high-mobility Killer. Play smarter, don't beg for changes.

i do think a nerfed pop would be good at basekit. Killers take 3 seconds to regress a gen while survivors can stop regression in 1 tap

For me camping and tunneling are very situational and should be very rare to giveboth sides more fun.
I'm not begging. Just doing suggestions.
If you want to camp you can camp. But it would be an additional bonus which you can't get with camping in the moment.

Pop can be an anticamp perk, because it limits your time to stop a gen, when you hook someone.
Personally I think Pop would be too weak compared to DS. But maybe another one has an idea for a new basekit perk?

No. Played against a spirit. Someone DC at first down. 5 gens left and 3 survivors. She still tunelled. Like it was really necessary. Big brain.

Scott Jund suggested it but basically the way it would work is that at the start of the game, gen speeds would decrease a massive amount. Probably like 200% or 300% decrease. It would go to the normal repair speed when the killer first starts to chase a survivor.

well bad games happens, but maybe there will be less games like that.

You want ds basekit? give killers permanent old ruin and you've got a deal.
0 -
Ok, but that looks like something different. I mean there should be anti camp and anti tunnel basekit perks to make it more fun for both sides.

ruin is not giving a bonus for leaving the hook.

It was a Russian. Most of them are like this. I'm not surprised. Maybe because I'm from Europe I'm matched with them. Survivors Russians are very salty too. Yesterday a Russian disconnected at first down because haunted ground was activated and I hit her. Hilarious.

Maybe we should make an anti salt perk. 😉
0 -
That’s probably why the idea was dropped.

Nooo. I like to read salty comments in chat or watch them on YouTube.

It makes camping and tunneling less necessary imo. Obviously some other ways to balance it out would be good too so killers aren’t punished more for camping and tunneling.
0 -
Indeed, don't want to punish Killer for camping, because that could be abused by survivors. I want to reward killer for not camping.
