Snowman is a free health state for survivors?
Comments

Well I guess we don't have to worry about this next year. Maybe no event at all that would be awesome
2 -
Just pop the snowmen when you see them around the map.
1 -
I'd be okay with that. At best, I am indifferent to them, and at worst, I find the change in gameplay flow not terribly fun.
0 -
They respawn

You are telling me that besides unlocking the new cosmetics, Killers are going to be forced to deal with Survivors gaining another health state via the Snowmen?
NOT ONLY that, but Snowmen who can tank Tier 3 Myers, remove Ghostface's mark (HOW DID YOU MISS THIS???), and God knows what else?
Why, I just genuinely don't understand.
2 -
You're being purposefully obtuse, but I'll answer anyway: It's not a "mode", it's the way you approach the game.
3 -
How do I go about playing the game as normal without these snowmen?
1 -
weewoo weewoo fun police
Why so serious? Take these 2 weeks as a way to relax! Grind some BP! Enjoy yourself!
15 -
You wait for the event to end. If the event doesn't seem fun to you, don't play it.
3 -
You guy need to laugh and cheer up it's not the end of the world ( not yet). Try to have fun it charismas time
Don't be a buzzkill
2 -
That doesn't sound like a well-designed event to me, then.
4 -
Like the fools they are, they expected for players to approach the silly snowman event less seriously than they would a tournament.
Don't play seriously for two weeks. It'll do this whole community some good, frankly.
8 -
THANK YOU!!! like We just want the cosmetics no one gives a rats ass about snowmen
7 -
I'm not sure what your criteria are, then! Any other game that does a seasonal event some people don't like would have the same answer, if you don't feel like playing this event then don't play it.
They get criticised for not doing enough, they get criticised for doing too much... there's no way for this game to win, is there?
6 -
My criteria is "how much is the fun of the normal game impacted by this event?" I am all for goofy Christmas stuff on Christmas, but if I wouldn't have fun playing it under normal circumstances, I wouldn't suddenly have fun playing it as a limited-time event.
3 -
it's all fun and games and everyone should just chill....., until it's the survivors that get a disadvatage right?
let me guess, the snowman giving a 3th health state to survivors is fine, BUT, let's say that the snowman could get the survivor oneshotted even if in fullhealth, that wouldn't be fine and should be fixed asap right?
god, these survivors are disgusting.
8 -
Then the event is not for you. That's fine! There's no lasting damage done here if you evaluate the event and go "meh, I'm not interested".
You're not entitled to the game holding your interest 24/7, it's totally fine if you just decide you don't want to play this.
4 -
I can live with not playing it, but it is still a poorly-executed event to me because of how it disrupts the gameplay in a negative and uneven way.
2 -
How the snowman interact with powers ? Doctor shock, puke or crows for exemple ?
0 -
That's a fair opinion, but it's no more valid than that of those who enjoy this event.
1 -
Right image an evil snowman running around(slightly faster then survivors snowman) with a giant candycane one shoting survivors. Now that would of been fun.
0 -
I'm fine with that. People are allowed to enjoy Superman 64. Why can't they enjoy this?
1 -
This!
0 -
Lmao it even removes save the best for last stacks
2 -
Yeah no way i play killer during the event.
Why was it necessary that survivors can tank a free hit?
1 -
Ok, so I was really confused about this "snowman" thing. When I first read the threads, I kept asking myself how was it that a small and unnecessarily goofy prop was causing such a reaction from the community.
So I decided to test it myself, and I must say that many people are overreacting about them.
I didn't play many matches because I can't deal with current DBD for long periods of time, but I got to see the snowmens on all of them...they are not massive Survivor "shields", guys. They make a lot of noise, are extremely slow, and they grant a STBFL stack if you hit them when a Survivor is there.
Those matches didn't end well for me, but that has little to do with those new props. That is because I am really out of touch with the game and with Freddy's current power, so I couldn't possibly expect to dominate those trials.
Here is a small proof that I did what I claim:
(This is map is ######### horrendous, btw).
So, guys, just try to enjoy the Event, if you can.
It is not a big deal.
6 -
I'm having fun on both sides. Watching the survivors walk super slowly and dance in the snowmen made my day.
3 -
Well it goes both ways. Me including some other survs mess around a lot now without doing objectives and it costs as games.
But I understand that they overlooked this and it can be a good tool for serious survivors.
0 -
You must be real fun at parties huh?
Who ######### cares if it makes them insta downed! this is a game! Its meant for fun!
And now is a time to celebrate the holidays! So just relax!
6 -
When I first saw this post I was like "omg, they found something else to complain about"... but after witnessing firsthand how obnoxious those snowman are I have to agree. They're RNG dependant, but a snowman in the right place can mean an incredible amount of time lost for the killer. They're funny and cool, but badly implemented balance-wise.
2 -
Except they keep respawning instantly.
0 -
If I play any less seriously I might as well take valium and go to bed
1 -
Not sure what I'm supposed to do with that comment.
If you're not playing seriously then why... are you mad? They only offer a (slight) advantage in competitive-approach matches, if you're playing casually then they're a funny little disguise mechanic.
3 -
Look im fine with them i'm just lettning them know you can't pre destroy them.
0 -
Oh please. Enough with sugar coating everything. Its sickening.
Its not a "slight" advantage and you completely disregard valid arguments because you dont WANT to listen.
All you want is trying to tell people how they are supposed to play or feel about the game.
3 -
How is it not a slight advantage? They get to avoid being downed, sure, but they don't get a speed boost and they don't get the dash they'd get from Dead Hard, it at best buys them a reset if they're insanely lucky and get a snowman that's like, right next to a strong loop.
Which, again, is only a problem if you're approaching the goofy holiday event like you're trying your hardest to win, which I have no idea why you'd do if you're so convinced that the snowmen break that aspect of the game.
I'm not telling people how they're supposed to play or feel about the game, I'm reminding them that there is more than one way to play or feel about the game, and that this event is encouraging one that isn't playing sweaty. That's it. Stop putting words in my mouth.
0 -
My issue with the notion that "it's just a for-fun event" is that the event runs the risk of alienating people who aren't interested in said event by impacting them anyways should they want to still play. Sure, it's not the end of the world if they stop playing, but I don't think an event should be discouraging certain groups to be playing to begin with if there's going to be no way to avoid it in-game.
0 -
I'm not seeing anyone playing less sweatily or being less BM when they win.
It's quite frustrating when you don't get that one really important down because someone popped into a snowman, resulting in you getting a 0k.
I think people are just tense because this is another event gimmick that offers benefits to only one side.
Sure. But at the end of the day, this isn't Minecraft.
This is an APvP game with a winner and a loser, and giving survivors yet another defensive tool as an event gimmick without, say, also giving killers something - yeah, people are going to be annoyed.
The pumpkins, for example were well done. Both killers and survivors could benefit from the RNG speed boost.
4 -
Of course. You are trying to tell people how they should play and feel about the game.
You are doing it for 3 pages now.
All i hear from you is one excuse after another why this is event is a non issue and you ignoring peoples arguments.
Please remind me what is the killers goal in this game?
So its totally fine for you if killers suffer but survivors using the snowman to block hooks, without them risking a health state, them circumventing core game mechanics in order to escape.
You suggest that killers complain because they play sweaty and want to win. But survivors using the snowmen to their advantage is totally ok and not sweaty gameplay?
Now lets hear your latest excuse and please some more sugar coating, its only about 1km thick and could use another layer.
4 -
I guess those have been your matches, I've definitely seen a decrease in sweat in my matches. There have still been sweaty matches but most are just chilling out a bit. Killers seem to be going for 2k and then backing off. Survivors not needing to escape for cosmetics has made them not just focus on escaping as fast is possible like with Anniversary event. Both sides seem to want to enjoy event a little bit in my matches. Maybe I finally have a good MMR where people want to have fun and not either hide entire match or play like they are in a competition.
0 -
I'm trying to defend anyone here, but telling someone who clearly plays killer to go for the cosmetics is beyond pointless.
Killers don't even get anything really interesting cosmetics wise so I can understand why this would just be upsetting in general.
Making the game marginally more frustrating with no real compensation other than frosty eyes is pretty grim considering the current state of the game.
Yes, its an event and people should be able to just have fun without getting hung up on wins and losses. That fun shouldn't constantly come at the expense of one side of the playerbase.
You keep denying that hitting the snowman is a free hit on the ground that don't get a sprint boost, but the killer did hit that person and does end up locked into an animation. We all know this is a game of time management where seconds make a different. It is disingenuous to sit there and act like strike cooldown doesn't make a difference.
At least, be honest even if you disagree with the person you're arguing with.
8 -
I think the 2k thing is an increasing tendency among killers to 'manage' their MMR.
I'll play some more matches out, but I'm already seeing more people using the snowmen for a pretty significant advantage moreso than 'having fun'.
0 -
Oh I'm not mad, I'm just pointing out if I take this game less seriously I might as well quit.
0 -
Good to see the Xmas cheer event has created the right amount of community animosity.
I'll be back next year when the dust from this ######### settles.
Until then I'll take the devs advice and play something else.
1 -
What I deny is that it's a free health state or a free hit, because it isn't either of those things. A more accurate description would be that it's a free protection hit, because the survivor who uses the snowman has about the same benefit as someone swooping in for a protection hit, which really isn't that big of a deal- maybe it feels pretty bad if you're playing competitively and sweating for some kills, but in a more casual approach it's just some silly fun.
As to the rest of your points, that brings me back around to the core problem here: If you really feel that the game is this unplayable and that you can't have any fun just goofing off or playing casually, go play something else. You're not entitled to the game catering to your approach all the time, it's not the end of the world if you look at the event and decide "nah I don't enjoy playing the game that way".
It's a casual event. If you don't want to play casually, that's fine, but don't whine about how the event's additions don't gel well with playing competitively.
(Granted, there is some merit to being annoyed at survivors who are being sweaty with the snowmen, but even then, if you take a step back and stop going for the kills it can be some silly amusement.)
0 -
Ah yes, the part of the community that doesn't take this game as casually should just rewire their brain and change their attitude on the fly because it's a Christmas event and people should play for fun.
That's not how it works, people will play however they want, and these snowmen are hindering the fun from the people (Killers) who play this game less casually due to their imbalance
6 -
It's actually the most effort they've put into an event. It's fun. Winter gift boxes in the bloodweb would've been nice but still!
3 -
You have no idea how sorely tempted I was just to respond to this with "Yes." because, like. Yeah.
Anyway, people can absolutely play how they want, I just think it's ridiculous to complain about how ill-suited the goofy casual holiday event is for competitive play. Like, yeah, of course it is, you're actively choosing not to approach this as the harmless lighthearted fun that it is, of course it's not going to hold up well.

"(Granted, there is some merit to being annoyed at survivors who are being sweaty with the snowmen, but even then, if you take a step back and stop going for the kills it can be some silly amusement.)"
That feels like a double standard to me. Why should only one side have to consider stepping back and not taking things seriously because the other side is attempting to weaponize a holiday gimmick?
5 -
It's probably a band-aid solution but you could bodyblock them until the EGC timer runs out. They're too slow to go around you. They'll have to make a desperate dash eventually and at that point hit them with noed.
