Picking up the box at the exact moment the chain hunt starts makes solving it impossible

I was playing against a pinhead on the swamp. The chain hunt was about to start so I tried to get to the box as soon as possible. I ended up picking up at the same time as the hunt started. This made it so: I would still be hunted by the chains even while solving the box; I couldn't drop it. Actual pain
