Secondary objective and the hatch

Add an extra generator visually different from the regular once, directly linked to the hatch. Killers can no longer grab a survivor at the hatch, but in order for it to open that specific gen has to be completed(can still be opened with a key without completing a hatch generator). It won't affect the gates, hatch only. If 5 generators required to open the gate are completed the hatch gen will turn on automatically. In order for it to open survivors will still have to complete a required number of regular gens:4 alive -5 gens, 3 alive - 4 gens + hatch gen, etc

    Killers will totally not camp , or pretend to go away and rush back every 10 seconds.

    It's no different from Hex: Ruin. As Killer, why waste time camping Ruin if Ruin is supposed to buy you time? The Survivors can just knock out regular gens if the Killer camps the Black Gen (for the Black Lock).

    He didn't really explain how it works sop I assumed it will be repairable only when the hatch appeared , which would be not as easy as you seem to think.
    How do you expect 1 guy to do other generators without killer who is camping this "hatch generator" noticing and rushing there and probably spotting you , especially if he has bitter murmur? Would just be easy 4k mode for killers instead of 3k and 1 hatch escape that we have now, that killers still complain about as if they "lost".

    BUT if he means that this "hatch generator" can be repaired from the start then...what's the point? Just make it 5 gens to power gates (which also powers hatch) and at least 3 gens to power hatch for the last survivor instead of 2 that we have now...
    No need for a "special generator" if that's the idea. Would be silly to camp one specific gen when they can just do the normal ones.

    Nobody is protecting the actual gens then, easy win I guess? :wink:

    Hatch gen can be repaired at any time. The point is to give survivors a secondary objective if they want the hatch to open and remove the hatch stand off. Also this way survivors no longer get a free escape every time, they actually did something to deserve it. You don't have to touch it if you just want the exit gates.

    Provided that the hatch is not a free escape, because you must find it without been downed by the killer before, I'd do some changes.

    In my opinion, the Black Gen should:
    1) make the hatch appear, not open it;
    2) be equal to the others in the eyes of the killer: only the survivors could notice the difference (they see its black Aura and have a special symbol of its full repair in the HUD);
    3) not contribute to the opening of the exit gates.

    Then, the hatch appears when one of the following conditions is met:
    A) the exit gates are powered;
    B) a number of generators equal to the number of survivors and the Black Gen have been repaired (same number now, but less convenient, because the Black Gen does not power the gates, thus remaining a secondary objective, which drains time to the survivors).

    This wouldn't change how high ranked players/SWF play as they'd just gen rush the non-Black Generators and leave through the gate exclusively. Only way they'd do otherwise is if the Black Generator gave a massive BP bonus for completing, but as is getting near capped objective points is rather easy, and doing the Black Generator wouldn't count toward the other three categories. I guess you could say that this would punish lower ranked players while leaving high ranked players the same.

    Killers already have hatch plays they can make. Bait a survivor or hook a player with more on their hook. Force them to either be selfish or altruistic.

    Or just have a hatch standoff in which they eventually get the other gens done or either one gives up.

    Hatch is there for a reason. Imagine being in a lobby and a player dcs first few moments of the game. There are five gens and three players. Chances are you would find one of those players before a generator is done. Game goes on and you have two generators done and you are the only one alive. Your last option is hatch or finish 3 gens by yourself. If we had your situation. You now need another gen before you can even get hatch. Best case scenario you get it done and escape out hatch. Worst case scenario is the killer patrols remaining gens before he finds that generator being worked on and assumes it is the black gen. Now the survivor no longer has any option but to work on the remaining 3 generators. The killer can still check generators but returns to that gen to damage it. Survival is very unlikely for the survivor at that point.

    It just makes surviving harder and killing easier which isnt an incredibly needed thing in the game. Sure some killers could use a buff but nothing to this extent for everyone. This could at best be an ultra rare killer offering.
