Proposed Changes: Trapper mechanics
The most recent changes to the Trapper's trap setting speed has been a welcomed change, as well as the alterations made to his add-ons. I would like to thank BHVR for implementing these changes.
One thing that still remains problematic for the Trapper is the time he needs to "prep" areas of the map. Most if not all of the other killers have either their abilities available at any given point, or their abilities help them impose more map pressure during a round. Trapper is the only killer who has to spend time gathering his "ability" throughout the map. The Huntress has a similar issue but at least her hatchets are rechargeable at any locker. This gives her an edge where she's never more than 10-15 meters from recharging ALL of her ability.
What I'd like to propose for the Trapper is removing traps from the field entirely. What if the Trapper started with a set amount of traps?
Let's say the killer started with a default amount of 3 traps. More traps would generate in the killers inventory over time as generators are completed, or over a set period of time (this could be indicated by a recharge timer overlay on the trap icon). Doing so would allow the Trapper to focus more on pursuing survivors, and reduce the amount of screen clutter. Having a set amount of traps in the beginning of the game would create a disadvantage for the Trapper, but as the match goes on his ability would provide greater benefit. This change would actually benefit survivors early game, forcing the killer to use his limited traps with care.
