LightbUrn needs to go...
Just like Moris, keys, infinites, and many others, lightburn is a remnant of a different era of DbD. It's from a time when the killer roster was limited and survivors where nowhere nearly as skilled as they are nowadays. You know another outdated mechanic that they removed? Sabotaging traps. If the devs understood why sabotaging traps had no place in the current iteration of the game I can't really think of a good reason why they have left the lightburn mechanic stay. It is uncounterable, abusable, and extremely unfair for a killer with such a limited kit as the Wraith. In addition to flashlights, why should the Wraith be the only killer who gets an extra punishment from perks like flashbangs or Blast mine? The devs removed fatigue after pallet stuns on Nurse because it was excessive. If they're ok with that then they should have no problem removing this BS mechanic.

Lightborn needs to stay... we don’t need to make flashlights more (BAD WORD) annoying than they currently are.

I agree it is pretty stupid. They got rid of toolboxes being able to sabotage Trapper's traps so why not let Wraith free from that flashlight BS.

I actually kinda like lightburn as Wraith because you can kinda lock up a survivor trying to burn you. Nurse’s lightburn is basically non-existent. Like it’s there, but noone really uses it properly.

I think you're a bit confused. I'm talking about lightBURN not lightborn.

This guy gets it :)

Ohh how stupid of me sorry!!
1 -
Even though it doesn't really affect himself much, that only encourages removal for it.
This is too punishing for such an easy action, it's not like nurse not being able to blink or hag trap/crow thing deleted by flash light.

It's the cost of wraith having a no cooldown, no limit stealth speed boost.
Wraith needs buffs in other places, not necessarily an immunity to flashlights.

I'm feeling like no cooldown is justified by long uncloaking.
1 -
Then people should ask for that aspect of wraith to be buffed.
Removing unique killer-interactions that make chases more interesting isn't the way to go.

What is interesting about lightburn? The feeling of invincibility you get by merely having a flashlight against a mediocre tier killer? what about flashbangs which instantly burn you at any distance? How is being burned by a flashlight while you're locked in a pallet breaking animation an "interesting interaction"? Please elaborate

they would have to nerf Wraith in a way you will hate.

You're not completely helpless against someone with a flashlight lmao. Having to dodge the beam while uncloaking adds depth to chases with survivor who find/bring one.
A good wraith can handle all of those, including flash bangs. This is an actual case of git gud

My guy I am perfectly aware of being able to dodge a beam. I'd love to look you up in the leaderboards to see how incredibly experienced you are with Wraith. Well I'm pretty confident that I know what I'm doing. When you play against actual good, high mmr teams or good comp teams come back and tell me lightburn is a good and fair mechanic. It accomplishes nothing other than giving one killer an unfair disadvantage. Just because you can dodge it it doesn't automatically make it a healthy mechanic.
Fun fact, did you know you could juke the Spirit before they nerfed her? That doesn't mean her power was ok and good for the game health overall. Same with sabotaging traps.
Since you automatically assume requesting for a QoL means the person asking must be bad that tells me everything I need to know. Git gud /thread what a great way to contribute to a discussion.

It's not a QOL, it's a buff, and the devs already decided on nerfing wraith. Wraith is easy, so easy that his pick rate was through the roof after his windstorm basekit buff, hence the nerf.
Lightburn is a mechanic that offsets his easy power.
I have no issue playing wraith with lightburn.
None of the killers need lightburn immunity.
Git. Gud.

I would be ok if Lightburning is removed if Lightborn is also nerfed. Because, as weird as it may sound.. I want an item in the game to always actually be usable?

The torches are not that muche effective compared to medikits or toolboxes. It is nice they have some extra utility like removing traps of the hag or also working against Wraith invisibility.
1 -
I don't see connection between those two, whether removed or not specific killer interaction doesn't help your desire of "an item always usable".
flashlight is rather niche yet somewhat powerful tools right now, why do you want to change it?
1 -
Basically, flashlights get enough hate when they’re not even usable against Lightborn as it is. Removing the few killer specific interactions of them puts them in an even smaller niche.
I don’t think there should be any perk or killer power that 100% negates use of another perk or item.

Flashlights need a rework, not just small changes like this one, they are just trash tier, unless facing a few killers, then becoming a really powerful tools...
Are you facing trapper for example? Flashlights are useless... Are you facing ̶n̶u̶r̶s̶e̶ hag? You have a perfect tool to counter her power by disarming traps and seeing them easily midchase... it's ridiculous, as ridiculous as old trap sabo against trapper.
1 -
Disarming traps against Nurse? What?
1 -
Ah #########, hag. Both teleport and i haven't played either of them for a while XD, thanks for pointing this out.

Just for reference, flashlights burn other killers besides the Wraith
- Hag’s traps can be burned off
- Artist’s crows can be burned
- Spirit’s Husk can be destroyed
- Nemesis’ zombies can be stunned for 15 seconds (Zombies hate this one survivor trick!)
- Nurse can be burned out of a blink (the timing is tricky but it’s possible)
I suspect they do this because they want flashlights to have some other use besides just attempting to blind a killer saving someone or blinding for points at a pallet. If that was all flashlights did they’re probably be too weak. (They’re kind of weak now in fact seems to be a consensus among a lot of killers.)

My question is, why do flashlights have to be strong at the expense of a weak killer? All the things you mention don't directly affect the killer itself. He's the only one where you can use a flashlight to incapacitate him until you run out of juice. And all of those provide a counter to one aspect of their power. If I told you I can stop any other killer from moving for 3 seconds just by shining a flashlight on them everyone would be up in arms but somehow that's just ok because oh it's just Wraith who cares. Not to mention half of his addons require him to be cloaked to work. So if you wanna compare it to other killers at least you gotta look at all aspects. His kit is weak enough as it is lightburn is a mechanic from an old era of DbD.

I don't have much of an opinion about whether or not Wraith is hurt too much by flashlights. It's possible I suppose that Wraith could use a slight buff, and maybe reducing or eliminating his stun from flashlights could help? You wouldn't need to touch any of the other similar uses for flashlights on other killers, though, just tone down the one on Wraith a bit. They could even make it that flashlighting a cloaked Wraith brings him out of cloak but only stuns him 1/2 a second or so, long enough to make up the time it took to use the flashlight but not so long that he completely loses any chance at a chase. (The current lightburn stun is 4 seconds for reference.)
0 -
Yeah more or less that's what I'm talking about. I can get behind this idea. 4 Seconds of stun is just too excessive of a punishment. That's like getting hit with DS every single time and we all know how much just 1 DS at the right time can affect a match.
3 -
Weaker killers?
Nurse? Spirit? Hag?
Also the other 3, the artist, the nemesi and the wraith are not weak, they are average!
0 -
Wraith is clearly weakest of all them, and somehow have worst punishment from flashlight.
It's weird, isn't it?

Dude. You seem act like DBD appeared yesterday as complete game from the fog.
Wraith always had the LB mechanic, at the beginning he was super weak killer, then he slowly become better and better since the moment he was on the top of B tier.
Then they nerfed him a little, still the bottom of B tier in my opinion.
Perfectly viable unless you are against a tournament team.
Killers receive modifications in their set because the meta changes and shift (even if sometimes very slowly), you can't have a core mechanic based on the principle "he is weak/strong, therefore...."
Today killer X is strong, tomorrow maybe will be weak.

I never said any of those were weak killers, just Wraith.
