I am playing on Xbox One and as Killer my button to drop a survivor is B. As I was cleansing a totem while I was still holding the interaction button I went to grab my controller with both hands as it was finishing up and accidentally hit the B button which cancelled my cleanse. I don't think there should be so many ways to interrupt your actions.
