COH/Boon rework
A lot of rework suggestions simply make boons worthless to survivors, and make it harder for killers.
Only being able to bless one totem and then having to bless a new one wouldn’t work, especially with hexes being up, unless the hexes were blessed over, but that would give a killer a free boon location to snuff and eliminate another spawn.
For a boon to be a one and done like hexes, they would need to spawn in at the start just like hexes, they would also need their own unique totems as there aren’t enough totems to support hexes and boons at once. The time to snuff would have to be increased to as well, because it would be incredibly unfair to have a one second destroy. It would also make it that much harder for killers, because taking time to search for a boon could lose them so much time, and even the whole game. It’s just not realistic for killers.
Even with the COH nerf, COH is still insanely overpowered, the nerf did absolutely nothing. The self-care heals, and I’d even go so far as to say that the single heals aren’t the biggest problem with COH. The biggest problem is the double heal speeds, and nerf only added 1 second to double heal speeds. Survivors are literally healing in front of the killers face before they can even reach them. With multiple survivors bodyblocking, you can basically force an infinite chase.
So here are my ideas for boons/COH:
- Make boons similar to the “wake up” action when playing against Freddy. So the more a survivor blesses, the longer it takes to complete the action. Maybe increase it by 4/3/2 seconds on the second bless and then double the time after? So 4/3/2 turns into 8/6/4 which turns into 16/12/8, which turns into 32/24/16 etc. This would add value to the boon for killers, by having the comfort of knowing the more they bless the more time they have at least one survivor off of a gen, while still allowing survivors to bless as much as they choose too.
- Implement a cool down timer of say 45/40/35 seconds before a totem can be blessed again that activates when a killer snuffs the boon. This would still make the boons valuable to survivors, but also easing the killers problems with the boons as well.
Both of these ideas would make it a lot harder for survivors to “loop with friends” and heal constantly, preventing an actual down, so long as the killer is consistently snuffing the totem in the area.
Oh yes, and reverse the current nerf to COH back to the original.
I genuinely think either one of these ideas would balance the boons wonderfully, and keep both sides relatively content.
