PS5 - Japanese player names not displayed

As both a killer and a survivor, player names containing Japanese characters (utf8?) are not being displayed correctly.
This issue had previously only affected the pre-game lobby. There, Japanese player names appear as just a row of solid boxes.
However, since the latest 5.5.0 release this problem also appears in-game. Japanese player names appear as a row of boxes with question marks inside.
