Why not, it at least gives you a better chance against a lower-level tunneler. When you start running the Killer for 5-gens, then you will start gain levels again.

I don't see why depipping should even exist at this point. Ranks just mark how much you played this month. I get not pipping if you have a bad game and don't do anything meaningful, but why is depipping even a thing anymore? What does it actually add to the current system, now that emblems don't contribute to your matchmaking in any way?

^ This. De-pipping is a relic of the old system that should've been removed. I earned something like 20 pips while stuck in the same grade because matchmaking doesn't work and I get teammates with 5 hours between them, leading to getting one pip away from grading up and then de-pipping all the way back down to zero. It's absolute bull####. I'd be well past Iridescent I by now if de-pipping weren't a thing, but I'm still in low Gold.

Yeah pips shouldn't be a thing anymore. It's a thing used to calculate your skill in a match for a system that's supposed to only calculate time played. What's worse is they don't translate to what behavior considers a balanced match. If you get 2 kills and you're in silver or gold, you're not pipping. You could do a gen, run the killer for 3 gens, and get two saves and escape, and still not pip as survivors. I have friends who play every day and are stuck at iri 4 for weeks because of pips.
It should just be a bar that fills up. The more you do the more it fills. If you get tunneled out you get a lot less than if you escape, but you still get something for playing.

DEPIPPING SHOULD BE REMOVED ENTIRELY
It's simple boys and girls.
Did you pip? Odds are you had a "decent" team". Did you double pip? Odds are you had a pretty good team.
Did you depip? Almost guaranteed to have either been tunneled from the start OR had an AWFUL team.
Depipping is literally NEVER the result of poor play by ones self. Seriously, it isn't. It's the LACK of opportunity to GAIN points in the emblem system. No more no less.

I've gotten to Iri 1 usually in about a week, week and a half, i play several hours a day though. But yeah once you get to red rank 4 it becomes much much harder especially in soloq which is what i do. I was stuck on red III for 3 days this last time, i would get like 4 pips, then lose 4 pips over and over.
The only solution to tunneling is learn how to run the killer. You can get better at it faster by watching a lot of videos if you don't have years of experience. Windows of Opportunity is great perk now too for this. Pip issue though is if your teammates (usually a soloq problem) dont do gens you dont get killer diversion in benevolent for running the killer. You also probably arent doing gens or totems because you're being tunneled.
TBH the way I usually end up at red rank 1 from red rank 4 is just by luck. Some days it seems all the killers tunnel, camp & then thenext day im double pipping a lot. Also when im not red rank 1 I usually a different build specifically to help pipping.

De-pipping should be removed for both survivors and killers. I'm surprised it hasn't been removed yet.

There's not much reason for depips to exist anymore.
You already can't depip anymore if it would cause your rank to go down. I don't see why it needs to exist.
