Disconnection penalty issues

For disconnecting from the match we get matchmaking ban for a certain amount of time. I am okay with giving a matchmaking ban for leaving the game on purpose.

However, many situations of disconnections are giving penalties people do not deserve (e.g.):

  • Game crashes
  • No network connections
  • Matches being cancelled
  • etc.

A person disconnected from the match and I was not sure if it was definitely on purpose. I asked the DBD Developers to take a closer look and was told that it is not necessary to report a player for DC penalty because the system does that automatically.

My advice is to give a DC penalty only by leaving the game by pressing the Leave Game button. Any other DCs can be reported (if disconnecting on purpose), giving the same penalty system like now and (if affected by game crashes, etc.) give a DC penalty of only 5 minutes or, if possible, no penalty. This will make report player requests usable and disconnections will be less unfair.
