Epic Games and Steam Username's Icon
There's an icon next to our usernames when you're in the lobby, that helps us know what players are on the same platform as us, but I think it should be removed between Epic Games and Steam, since both are PC, I play on Epic Games and I barely get to use the lobby chat because Steam players have that icon next to their names, and they see that icon on my name too, and I hardly find other Epic Games players, Rocket League has something similar, all PC users see each other with the same icon even if they're playing on Epic Games or Steam, and only see Console players with a different icon.
How am I supposed to know that there are other pc players in the lobby I can talk to before the match starts without asking every lobby I join.
This is what I mean:

I don't see why the crossplay icon is even there in the first place, to be honest.

Just assume any username such as hex, or any odd name is steam. Since we can change our username to whatever we want, at whatever time. We don't have to pay the 10 bucks to change our name :), nor do we have restrictions. Our usernames tend to be the most unique, since can put whatever we want.

Good point there. Any names with a space in it or that is too DBD specific is definitely Steam/Windows Store/Epic. (well, to be fair, I don't know about Windows Store and Epic Store names, so maybe they have similar restrictions to console)
And generic boring names like xx_gamer_boy1994_xx are definitely console.
