Boons and SBMM ruined the game.

Change my mind.

    Sure, I'm game to try.

Boons themselves haven't ruined the game at all- there's one specific boon perk causing problems, but the others are totally fine, and the mechanic itself only has mild flaws when applied to the other three boon perks. So, it'd be more accurate to say that Circle of Healing ruined the game, if you wanted to go that route.

As for SBMM, it hasn't ruined the game and isn't capable of ruining the game. All of the game's balance issues and frustrations existed before the system was introduced, and the absolute worst case scenario is that you're just seeing them more frequently because you're being matched consistently instead of quality ping-ponging around everywhere. Either way, the problem isn't SBMM and can't be fixed by changing SBMM.

For my last point, the main reason those two things haven't ruined the game is that the game... isn't ruined? Or, if you think it is, it's been ruined for a long time, far predating SBMM and boons. The game's healthiest spot was actually after boons were introduced, in the brief window where CoH was killswitched.

Boons as a concept are fine.

CoH is the only boon that needs to be looked at.
