It'll still mark you as Exposed if somebody else is picked up and carried near you (within Terror Radius), so long as the cooldown is up.

It also exposes you while dark devotion is active when you're picked up

It's because it goes where the terror radius is. Same thing for Doctors blast if using Dark Devotion. Ethan talked about it on one of his streams and how it's intended.
