The Dark Times - The 2nd Coming

Is this 2017 again?

I took a year long break from DbD in 2017, because it was basically bully simulator 2017. Killer was unfun, and survivor was just pure easy mode. (Don't forget infinite loops and pallet vacuum was still a thing back then!) It took you a whole year to address the glaring issues with your game, that I could somewhat give you props for, I started to enjoy the game again, because survivor/killer balance was actually a little better.

Here we are in 2022, and you have glaring problems once again. Some of which are your own doing, some are things that you seemingly don't want to address.

Cheaters/Hackers are becoming so prominent it's a wonder why the whole playerbase doesn't just follow suit and do the same, there are no real punishments for it. Just buy the game on a new account, rinse and repeat.

Your reporting system still does next to nothing in game and via additional tickets, so reporting the people who are actually toxic, abusive, cheating, exploiting etc. does nothing. They still play the game.

SBMM is a failure and it looks like you will never admit that it is a failure. If SBMM is going to be a permanent fixture, you have effectively killed your game. Many are quitting DbD because of this, SBMM will never work for a game such as this. Do the right thing and remove it! The old matchmaking was better than this guff.

Zero quality control before patches and chapters are released, which I thought was one of the more important aspects of game development.

I could go on, but I think the four major things I've listed here speak volumes for the level of incompetency on display. The lack of transparency with the community is laughable compared to other games. For developers who say they care about their game, you're doing a pretty good job in proving it (Pun was intended). All we ever get now is buggy chapter releases, non-stop churning out costmetics (that aren't even any good), and no focus on quality of life changes.

You're tanking your playerbase hard as a result of all of this. June 2021 was by far your best month in a long time, only to drop that player count considerably since then.

I'm sure many others have done the same, but I'll be another of a long list of players who are taking another long break of this game until you can actually be bothered to do anything to fix your game. It's a damn shame we're back to the dark times again, for such a promising game, the developers are once again destroying it.

Sorry not sorry.
