Autodidact need to be changed, especially tiers 1 & 2

Over the last few years there's been a shift in perk design to ensure that tier 1 and 2 perks, while still worse than tier 3, are still useful perks. Essentially so that tier 3 of a perk is beneficial, but not mandatory in order to make use of that perk.

The one glaring exception to the rule is Autodidact.

You start the trial with a -25% progression penalty for skill checks to heal survivors. For every successful skill check completed while healing a survivor, Autodidact gains 1 token up to a maximum of 3/4/5 tokens. Each token grants a +15% bonus progression for a successful skill check while healing survivors. Great skill checks cannot be performed while using Autodidact. Autodidact is not active when using a med-kit to heal.

So first, the wording is poor at best. Second, there's no mention of not working on self-healing actions (self-care and CoH.)

Most importantly, look at tier 1.

Skill check 1: -25%

Skill check 2: -10% (-35%)

Skill check 3: +5% (-30%)

Skill check 4: +20% (-10%)

Skill check 5: +20% (+10%)

It takes 5 skill checks before autodidact is not a net disadvantage. At the very least, tiers 2 and 3 can at least stack higher than that, so longer matches grant you a significant benefit later, but tier 1 at most gives 20% bonus on skill checks, which is not enough to offset its penalty most matches. Anyone who has run the perk will tell you that you have to be extremely lucky to even get 5 skill checks while healing others in a match. Even at tier 3 you get stuck in the hell of no skill checks most matches after you've used the 2 negatively affected ones.

My suggestion for a minor rework in order to make Autodidact a beneficial perk at all tiers instead of just tier 3 is as follows.

You start the trial with a -25% progression bonus for skill checks when healing other survivors without a med kit. For each successful skill check completed while healing a survivor, Autodidact gains 1 token up to a maximum of 5 tokens. Each token grants a +15% progression bonus for successful skill checks while healing other survivors. Great skill checks cannot be performed while using Autodidact.

Grants a 5/10/15% increased chance of getting a skill check while healing other survivors.

Now, tier 1 is at the very least functional to the painful degree that the current tier 3 is, and all 3 tiers provide a more consistent benefit.
