New Survivor Item: The Water Bottle
Hey! I was joking with my friend over the latest twitter post that I'd bring my aluminum water bottle into the Fog since I'd get thirsty, and it quickly turned into an idea for what I think would be a healthy and practical expansion to the survivor's repertoire of items:
Water bottles would hold charges to allow a survivor to expedite recovery from exhaustion. They would need to stay put while they channel the item (like a medkit or toolbox) but while they do so, their exhaustion recovers at 200% or higher, depending on addons & rarity. A handy water bottle could mean the ability to stay closer to the action or re-engage the killer faster, at the cost of an item's charges (and the opportunity cost of bringing a water bottle as opposed to a medkit).
I'd see a brown water bottle providing about 8-12 seconds worth of saved time while a purple would mimic its medkit parallel and allow for much more. Addons could be used to expand capacity, increase the recovery rate (potentially depleting charges faster) and an iridescent effect could be something like being able to consume the bottle like a syringe for an instant 'mini-sprint burst'. You may also include the ability to offer water to a teammate like you would heal a teammate, though it'd be hard to know which teammates are exhausted without external comms (or I guess, your teammate frantically teabagging and pointing at your hand, desperate for your trusty canteen)
Water bottles would be especially useful for survivors in situations where they would prefer to remain injured (such as against killers who score easy injuries like Legion or Plague, or killers who have exposed downs like Ghost Face, Meyers, Billy, and Bubba) or to complement injury builds like No Mither, Resilience, and so on.
Water bottles would be worthless to survivors who have no exhaustion perks equipped, but exhaustion perks are common and it'd be easy enough for game knowledge to spread regarding the appropriate situations to use the item.
What do y'all think?

The developers need to fix the other 2 items before adding another. Keys are worthless and Flashlights need a buff of some sort, they are to weak right now.

Oh that is interesting what do you think flashlights need? I would say they do what they are supposed to do.

It's not a bad idea necessarily, but idk about making certain exhaustion perks even stronger than they already are.
If anything all items need some tweaks. Medkits and toolboxes are too strong, keys and maps are mostly too weak. I think flashlights are mostly okay, although some of their addons could use some adjustments (mainly buffs) and more variety in what they do. Double locker saves need to be removed though.

Probably a higher blind time for flashlights, as well as make it easier to blind the killer. for keys, do something because they're pretty much useless.

It'll certainly do so! Though I think it'll be offset by taking up the value provided by access to other items - it's not just exhaustion perks that are strong, it's those perks in conjunction with valuable items (particularly medkits) - though you're right, an item like this would exist to make exhaustion perks shine even brighter than they already do.

Oh look and excuse to bring up my item concept for a water bottle:
basically, I think just reducing the time might be too strong. My concept would give the exhaustion effect additional negative effects, which the water bottle would then negate. Maybe with a pink addon that could lower the actual time by a (very few) seconds or something.

Very interesting! I'm glad other folks are wanting to stay hydrated in-game 😀 Thanks for sharing!

Exhaustion doesn’t need buffs.

I don't know I mean i already get blinded through walls and from outsides my fov. And for longer times only if the reduce the amount of times the killer can't fight being blinded aka when we are locked in animation
1 -
Well it wouldn't be super strong, simply because you can't move when drinking the water bottle, so you wouldn't be able to drink water until the killer is off your case

alright, well the blinded through walls is a glitch, (better be or imma be mad), and outside your fov is stupid, because you can't see it.
and yes, while a killer is locked in animation, you shouldn't be able to be blinded, that is super true.

That's my thinking! It'd be essential to the balance of this version of the item to not be able move (or even walk) in order to create enough cumulative risk to justify the value the item could bring. I'd at least be interested to playtest something like it! Ultimately it SHOULD provide value to the survivors since that's the reason they'd bring the item, but being unable to multi-task would keep the water bottle from being universally handy while making it shine in a few particular niches (leaning on the tenser side, which seems enticing to me)

Today alone I had a game I got so blinded so often. I get stunned first blind I need to kick the pallet next blind Gen kick blind relode my knifes blind

That's such BS
I play as The Nemesis, The Doctor, or Deathslinger, and I understand your pain.
I could quit the game simply from the frustration of being blinded mid-animation

Quentins perk Vigil already speeds up exhaustion time recovery. And other effects too.

This is true! And, hopefully one day, water bottles will count among them 😋

I kinda agree with this item idea, even from a killer perspective. I wouldn't go as far as to make an irri addon that instantly removes exhaustion due to how strong exhaustion perks can be when needed in a chase. But making it similar to the Blight Syringe (single use and taking an item slot vs addon slot) would be more okay. The brown and yellow version should reduce the remaining duration of exhaustion while a purple version should allow for recovery while running, as a side effect though should also ADD like 10-15 seconds so it can't be abused or too OP. Not only that, pairing it with the survivor perk Vigil might need to be looked at so it's not too strong with the items.

Ive also been thinking about the way an item like this would work - and it'd end up being a pretty powerful but technical item if it were implemented as-is, since the way to get maximum value out of it would require using the bottle to reduce your exhaustion but... if you dont end up in danger for the next minute or two, then you'd have recovered anyway - item wasted! It'd be the sort of item that'd really reward informed timing.
As for variety in terms of how the water bottle behaves - I'd be hesitant to overcomplicate it. Most items just do the same thing but have more charges by default, with addons being the big differentiator.
For the iridescent idea - I dont think Id picture the 'mini-sprintburst' also erasing your exhaustion so much as giving you a non-exhaustion haste effect for about a couple seconds.

I think this is a good idea - maybe it could help expedite other recovery as well.
However, I will say that there should be an air of caution.
Exhaustion perks are hyper powerful and, in the right hands, they can break the game if given a few short cooldowns.
But having a brown, a yellow, and a green water bottle that can help recover from debuffs and stave off future debuff effectiveness would be a nice addition.

Keys, Maps, and flashlights need buffs
toolboxes need something since there boring
med kits need nerfs or more interesting addons so you have to work more for the heals.
Flashbangs just need addons that alter the blinding time or even the sparkles cause I think there the worst item.
