New 21:9 monitor - any problems to expect?

Hi - I am sorry - I am a noob - this said here comes my question / problem:

I play DbD on a 27 monitor and would like to get me a 30 monitor 21:9. Please don´t laugh at me: will this effect my gameplay (display) in any way? Will there be black bars or will the resolution change so that I see it more streched sideways? Or will there be no effects at all?

As the ratio changes, I can´t believe it will look the same. And I don´t want to send it back to AMAZON, if I play with funnily shaped Felix or Ryn....


Any help is appreciated.

    I think since the fix of stretched resolution abuse you will see the normal aspect ratio with black bars.

    Yeah, above comment is basically right. Even though typical stretched res is stretching the horizontal resolution the opposite way to which you are effectively stretching it from 16:9, it'll probably either give black bars (as above suggests) or decrease your FOV. I'm not sure if the recent 'fix' of stretched res works for stretching both ways or not, but either way it'll look bad and one of these two things will occur.

    If you're thinking of buying a 21:9 monitor primarily for DBD, I wouldn't recommend it personally.

    Thank you. I also play Divion 2 or other games that support 21:9. I don't actually know what to do. I will get a 21:9 and see what it looks like with DbD. Worst case is to switch monitors if it looks worse than on my 27 monitor. And I am also curious to see how WoW looks on the 21:9....

    i've always used a 34" ultrawide, only really started playing DBD over a year ago, and never even realised my vertical view was cropped, it should of clicked when seeing the player models in lobby like nemesis but i honestly thought they were trying to emphasis how huge he is lol.

    Will be trying the 16:9 option in graphics settings now and see how it goes with the black bars, sad i can't get full screen without the cropping, but makes sense i guess not to gain an advantage. On the other hand I feel i've been short changed and been at a slight disadvantage all this time, not that i'm a very good player anyway 😂
