QOL for KYF intended for Tournaments. My own suggestion as a competitive player.
Hello! If you don't know me, probably you don't, I'm Azza! I a member of the Brazilian competitive scenario of DBD, playing currently for Risely Team.
What am I here for? To present to the community, Managers and Devs, my suggestions to Improve KYF experience for tournaments, and give you all a little insight as how the tournaments usually work.
QOL for KYF
MUCH NEEDED:
- 1. Allow the Host to check an option in "settings" that would allow only the spectator to see perks on the end game.
It doesn't happen that often, but sometimes the ping can cause a rematch. In that case, both sides are able to see each other perks/strategies. This is specially unfair for killers, and deliverance survivors.
- 2. Allow the Host to block certain Perks, Items, Offerings and Add-ons.
Nearly in ALL tournaments, there are some perk bans, this could allow the host to remove banned perks from the roster, just like a kill switch. "The host has blocked this item/offering/perk".
- 3. Have an option to disable cosmetics.
This is not 100% needed, but sometimes, tournaments doesn't allow cosmetics, specially those who gives unfair advantage through camouflage or those who impact the other team's FPS. (such as Halloween skins)
- 4. Allow 2 spectators.
Sometimes we have to stream our screens through discord to commentators while also streaming on twitch. It requires so much processing power that sometimes makes the spectator crash. This way, only the commentator will stream his screen IF needed on discord. This way the tournament could be more direct.
- 5. Spectator can now see everyone's aura (survivor and Killer). You'll be able to see everyone's aura. (SPECTATOR MODE ONLY) .
This will allow us to see hiding survivors on killer's POV, and see BOTH SIDES from one screen. Same would happen at surv side, you would be able to see other survivors and killer.
- 6. Improved HUD for spectator.
Show information about every Generator on the map. Show dull and hex totem count. See hook counts on Killer side, and Hook counts on Survivor side. This will help casters to have more info to talk about.
This is merely for the public view.
OPTIONAL:
- 7. Free Camera mode from ABOVE. (Like R6 camera where you can freely move, change floors and even follow a certain character from above. (or camera presets, like FULL map views or generators view?. IDK
Would allow more interesting spectating during matches so people can see looping and other stuff from above.
- 8. Repair progress on each Generator. (in percentages or seconds left) on spectator screen.
So the host and commentator can predict gens popping and also prevent hacking on tournaments.
- 9. Healing progress on each survivor. (in percentages or seconds left) on spectator screen.
Same as above. And also to call out a reset.
- 10. Symbols to show what survivors are doing: (Chase, hex cleanse, dull cleanse, healing, gen repair)
QOL that should be in public games for survs for sure.
- 11. Allow the host to select RNG or make all Custom maps RNG free.
RNG removes most skill involved in memorization. With RNG the same confront can have multiple odds of being good, bad, awesome or terrible. RNG affects pallet spawns, looping connectors, and tile type. KYF should either have a preset RNG or the ability to select from multiple RNGS available.
This cover the more urgent changes for tournaments. I know the game isn't heading to a competitive scenario, but it would be lovely to allow people to compete with prize pools with a more fair advantage. Also, competition and tournaments CAN and WILL bring a lot of new players to the game. I know DBD is assymetric, but we're talking about the following format of championship, that is if you don't know how tournaments work on dbd:

Tournament Format:
3 maps, 2 matches on each map, total of 6 matches. Each map counts as a win for the team with most points. Each win contributes to 1 points, First team to get 2 points win (Best of 3).
NO PERK REPETITION ALLOWED, BUT 2 BORROWED TIMES.
Addons, Items and Perks can also sometimes be banned. New released content, and other stuff, such as OP addons for certain killers, and OP items for survivors. Combinations of Iron will and Lucky break, Deliverance and DS and Unbreakable, Off the Record and Lucky Break, Noed and No Way Out, HEX Haunted grounds and Immortal and other combos, are also banned.
Generally banned perks in all confronts:
Starstruck, Dead Man's Switch, Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance, Lucky Break, Iron Will, Boon: Circle of Healing, Boon: Dark Theory, Boon: Exponential, Boon: Shadow Step Build to Last Boil Over Iron Will, Fast Track, Lucky Break, Prove Thyself, Resurgence, Soul Guard, We’re Gonna Live Forever.
There also might have individual perk bans against certain killers.
NO SURVIVOR CHARACTER REPETITION ALLOWED.
Matches: MAP 01, Map 02 and Map 03.
Team one vs Team Two (One as Killer vs Two as Survivor) -> Total points for first match.
Team one vs Team two (One as Survivor vs Two as Killer) -> Total points for second match.
After this, the points of both sides are added, and the winner wins THE FIRST map.
There will be another one, if the first map winner wins again, it's the Confront winner, and the last match is a Showmatch for the other team, to attempt 2x1. (sometimes for draw or group purposes)
Point system:
Killer:
Survivor 1st hook = 2 points.
Survivor 2nd hook = 2 points.
Survivor's death = 1 point. (includes bleed out regardless of hook states)
Bonus 2 points if all survivors are killed before exit gates are powered.
Max of 22 points.
Survivor:
Generator repair = 2 points.
Escaped with 3 hooks remaining = 3 points.
Escaped with 2 hooks remaining = 2 points.
Escaped on death hook = 1 point.
Max of 22 points.
