Mapofferings and BNP's are bad for DBD now and in the future
hello,
in my opinion: we currently have enough perks and toolboxes that increase the repair speed of generators. So why still have BNP's? I don't understand that...
The same goes for the range of Maps. We all know there are maps that favor killers and survivors. To keep the balance and not influence, I would let the Entitus decide which map to play.
the diffrence between dbd 2016 and dbd 2022 is huge and alot has changed so far.
What do you think about that ?
greeting

I'd totally greenlight the removal of map offerings

They're undeniably toxic. If somebody uses an offering, it's because they know what they're doing and hope to have something that suits their build. Survivors are more likely to genrush, and killers will probably have an obnoxious build suited to indoor maps.
I only use them for "fall from a great height X amount of times while being chased by the killer" challenges.

The ONLY reason I'd keep map offerings the way they are is jumpscare Myers being unplayable on the vast majority of maps.

I agree with getting rid of Map offerings
But disagree with BNP's removal... cause at this point if it's a 4 man Genrushing SWF thwn that means that they'll use all 4 on the same gen... then they'd have to rely on Perks (and yes they can be strong if the Survivors know what they are doing) to get the rest done

I don't want Map offerings to be removed, simply because I hate playing on the same 3 maps every game and RNG loves to give me Coldwind, MacMillian, and Crotus Prenn constantly.
Map offerings should stay, but the chances to go to that map should be lowered to 50% so the map isn't guaranteed. That way the offerings won't be as easily abusable.

This content has been removed.

I would be down with getting rid of map offerings but in all honesty a beefy medkit beats a bnp almost every time unless your whole team is running them.

I want map offerings gone, because using them to gain an advantage or make the other side miserable is bad sportsmanship... and in their place, I'd like to a single uncommon offering that lets you select one realm to remove from the random potential pool.
I do agree that BNPs should be reworked as well. A completely new effect would be nice... Something like "While using a toolbox with a BNP equipped, press the active ability button to consume the BNP and decrease by half any regression applied to this generator for 120 seconds." And maybe give the generator some kind of indicator that it is under the effects of a BNP.

That doesn't really justify keeping BNP's if anything it's a reason to remove it.

I mean if i see a map offer when im a killer im putting my evil pants on. I know most people will try to abuse the map with boons or boil over or just because they know it has god loops so i'm not going to be very nice.
I don't use map offers when i play a survivor since i like the game to be fair for both sides.

I've always thought map offerings were bad for the game. Either side can abuse them. Challenges don't help. "Fall from a great height three times" can only be done on certain maps. It could take 10 hours to get that done without an offering.
I used to avoid BNPs in the web because I didn't want to spend that many bps on something I'd never use. Now with killers running 3-4 slowdowns in most games, it's incredibly difficult to get gens done. Have you tried playing as a solo survivor when the killer has Corrupt, Scourge Hook, and Dead Man's Switch? It's absolutely miserable, especially with how often at least one teammate is AFK or just will not do gens the entire game. Just no.
2 -
Doing gens is how survivors win the game. It's the killers job to stop them. There is no such thing as a genrush.
1 -
Ok but you know what I mean. Survivors who use offerings are more likely to be playing with others, and more likely to do the objective fast and efficiently. Especially knowing the map thanks to an offering, and can formulate a plan sooner.
1 -
Hilariously I think people would be more interested in anti map offerings then actual map offerings. XD

Sorry I forgot to put in the Solo Survivors use of BNP... if there was any
But I wouldn't use BNP at the start of the match but in the middle or on last Gen (if possible)

Only killers should be able to use map offering
Some killer fun builds only works on certain maps whereas survivors dont benefit from map selection other than going to cowshed, badham etc to have an easier match
Killer builds like jumpscare myers, hard skill check doctor and so on are changing the pace of the game in a way that is fun even for survivors
The only downside is that some killers uses map offering like nurse on midwich for example ti sweat, bit it is waaaaaay les frequent than survivor sided map offerings

Well, I see myself as a rather ... innocent player. When I use a mapoffering, it's because I want to see the map, not exploit it. Therefor I'd like to keep it in the game. However, I understand how people would use it to troll and to benefit themselfs. But maybe it would be better to ballance the maps. Theorethically a variety of maps is for the ambience, not for different roles.
What I mean to say is, should'nd the point be "FIX YOUR MAPS" and not "REMOVE MAPSELECTION". Kinda seems to ignore the source of the problem.

I agree, and I think the BNP is a good approach.

I'll personally get rid of all the overperforming stuff overall (map offerings, hook offerings, strong addons and items, etc etc)

I'm fine with them removing map offerings if they first do 2 things.
1. Make it so the next realm the 5 players visited is not one any of them just had in previous match to avoid back to back matches on same map/realm. A map offering gives me a chance to change the scenery after going to bright corn maps or the Game 5 times in a row.
2. Add "great heights" to all maps for those stupid "fall from great height while in chase" challenges they keep adding to the tomes. If I have that challenge on I'm using an offering to avoid Shelter Woods.

I love the fact that we can use map offerings. Sometimes I use a map offering to help me with a rift challenge (hide withing 10 meters of the killer for 60 seconds - The Game or Lery's), but mostly I use a map offering when I crave a certain map. Doesn't matter if it's objectively disadvantageous for me, I just feel in the moment that I want to play on that specific map.
RPD when I play killer, Lery's or the Game when I play Huntress or Blight (I love those maps with these killers for some reason lol).
Of course, many people use map offerings 'cause they have advantage on them (Blight, Oni or Billy using Autohaven or Macmillan, Nurse or Spirit using Dead Dawg, survivors using Coldwind, Ormond, etc.). I think that devs should aim to balance out the maps instead. Map offerings are cool, when used without an ulterior motive of having a huge advantage over the opponent(s). They add fun to the game.

"Who needs a map?"

I don’t have an opinion on Brand New Parts either way, but I definitely think the game would better off as a whole if they removed map offerings entirely. The offerings just exacerbate issues with map balance or exploits by allowing players to force the matches onto those problem areas. They also limit map variety since certain map offerings are much more popular than others by survivors (I say survivors because with four survivors it’s four times as likely that a game with a single map offering will have it on the survivor side.)
There is sometimes a complaint that “but if there’s no map offerings what if the game just randomly sends me to the same map two or three times in a row?” That’s an illusion, sure it can happen periodically through chance but repeated maps happen much, MUCH more often due to map offerings than without them. That said I wouldn’t be opposed to tweaking the random map selection algorithm to not choose a map that any of the five players in the lobby played on in their most recent matches.

Yeah I agree that map offerings should go.
I even made a fan concept of "reworked" offerings (retired some less used one and reworked a few).
I will allow myself to post them here. I would like to do items and surivors addons soon aswell.
My concept of map offerings would still allow for a build specific for a type of map (for example Mirror Myers) while removing the abusability of some maps (you want to play pallet heaven aka The Game? Go ahead but you may get RPD instead)
I raised the rarity because if moris are going to be removed then we would have no iri offerings.
With Shrouds I swapped the sides which the offerings are on.
And luck has been reworked to only apply to chests (instead of it only applying to self unhooks)

Wow, I really like this. Good work. What do you think of the BNP's?

Personally, I like Map Offerings because of Challenges and Achievements. If I am doing a "Drop from great distances while being chased" challenge, I want to make sure I get The Game or Midwich, and not Fractured Cowshed or Dark Woods.
1 -
They are strong, however I don't see them often in my games, so I am not very frustrated about them.

I've been begging the devs to clean up and remove a lot of the junk items from blood webs for so long! Maybe I wouldn't do it exactly like this, but it's pretty damn close.

You clearly haven't went against a 4 man commodious bnp w/ streetwise/prove thyself/built to last squad if you think genrush isn't a thing. Even the strongest tier killers would need to 4 man slug a group like that very quickly if they want any hope of not getting 4 man escaped because the amount of gen pressure they can exert is insane.

that´s absl. true
