Chapter Suggestion - The Thing™
Just my yearly suggestion again, been trying since game release.
My rough suggestion and obviously open to alterations. Many ideas for abilities can be introduced but i have played around with the two main traits (Imitation and infection). Parts of abilities could instead be implemented via addons instead of base kit.
New licenced chapter based on John Carpenter's: The Thing™
New Killer: The Thing
Abilities: Assimilation and Imitation.
Assimilation: Players injured by the killer become infected. Slowly lowers repair and healing actions over time, eventually regressing to 75% (?) progress speeds. Infected players reveal their aura for 2 seconds over set periods of time as their bodies slowly become one with the Thing. Players can remove infection by using a blood kit, this allows a blood transfusion of infected tissue.
Imitation: When the killer injures a survivor, the killer can freely imitate that player for the rest of the game. Killer goes through a brief but silent transformation on command. During this time the killer takes on the exact appearance of the survivor they previously injured, including their current health status, replicating the survivors player status icon. Whilst imitating a survivor, the killer takes on survivor traits, including movement speed. Killer also has the Undetectable status during this time. If a selected survivor is dead when imitating, their dead player icon will be replaced with a injured survivor player icon to other survivors. As a survivor the killer cant attack, but can imitate survivor actions. Whilst repairing generators, other survivors are given a false progress bar falsely portraying increased progress speeds by survivors but is in fact only progressing at X1 speed. The killer can use a ability to "Sabotage" the generator, freezing all progress and all repairing actions for 45 (?) seconds. The killer must go through a brief, gruesome and noisy transformation back to it's Alien/Mutated form in order to attack, but could take unprepared survivors by surprise.

Perk 1: Sabotage - Makes exit gate switches slowly regress when not being worked on.
Perk 2: Scourge Hook: Concealed Shadows - When hooking a survivor on a scourge hook, the notification bubble will not appear for other survivors.

New Survivor: John Mcready
Perk 1: Rally - ALL survivor action speeds within 4m are increased by 4%.
Perk 2: Molotov - After completing 80% repair progress on a generator, Molotov activates. When the survivor enters a locker for 8 seconds whilst empty handed, they craft a molotov. If a killer is hit by a molotov they enter a brief stun animation lasting 2 seconds whilst it douses the flames. For the next 10 seconds the killer is unable to use any special abilities other than a basic attack.

New Map: U.S. Outpost #31
New Map item: Blood Kit - Survivors can use the limited amount of blood kits found on maps to have a blood transfusion on infected tissue, removing infection. A blood kit can also be used on other survivors like a medkit, be careful however, using the blood kit on the killer imitating a survivor will trigger a instantaneous scary and rapid transformation allowing the killer to protect itself after being revealed.

I'm a huge fan of The Thing, but swfs would gut any power of imitation. :(
I'm fairly certain that legion originally had a similar concept but was scrapped.

Talking takes time... time of which allows the killer to get closer... imitation only has to create a moment of uncertainty to be successful... and throw in the other ability... you get paranoia + slowdown. Throw in some perks and you get additional slowdown and extra lethality.
Also... it would take actual skill and manipulation against SWF... like coming from the direction of a hurt survivor, like coming from a gen they know was worked on but suddenly stopped. They will either get complacent in communications at times or take time to check of which would be too late.
It will also cause paranoia even on coms, a players first instinct will be first to to panic and distrust, then confirm in a rushed fashion, rushed actions causes mistakes... especially if they think someone is talking to/about them but are not 🤣
I would have a field day with that ability and would actually find SWF's easier to mess with. Especially with extreme slowdowns... mistakes could be made with little consequences for the killer.
Solo's will only take the ability but little skill to be successful.
