Does the amount of Iridescent Shards always differ when levelling up on Devotion?

I recently noticed that when I level up a Devotion level, the amount of Iridescent Shards I receive differs. When before (a couple of months ago) it seemed to always be the same amount.

Was this always the case or is it perhaps a bug? Or has it just been changed?

    From the 1-100 levels, you get varied amounts of Iridescent Shards, getting a smaller amount in the earlier levels and getting more in the later half. This is because it takes a smaller amount of match XP to get earlier levels than later levels. It ends up working out to be about the same amount of shards per match though overall, as you can see by the Shards/XP ratio on the right side of the below table.

    Afaik, it has been this way since they introduced the player level system back with the 2nd anniversary.
