Why limiting the catch up mechanic to Prestige 9?
From the July Dev update:
"In the PTB, we awarded one bonus prestige level for each prestige your characters had prior to the PTB. For the full Mid-Chapter release, we have increased this to 2 bonus prestige levels. This means if your character was prestige 3 before the update, they are guaranteed to be prestige 9 after the update, granting all the new rewards immediately. The catch-up mechanic will be limited to prestige 9, however, even if the calculated bonus would exceed this."
We can say that the first part is good, it rewards people more for prestiging, even though there are controversies I won't get into. Doubling up on the prestige levels means that whoever was P1 prior to the update will be P3 as soon as the mid-chapter drops, so that's a pretty good deal for them.
But what is the point of limiting the catch-up mechanic to prestige 9?
Like, this way there is not difference between a person who is P3 level 1, P3 level 50, and P3 with all the perks.
It means that the more a player was dedicated to the game, the less their efforts are valued since the resulting prestige level will be the same.
Since the efforts of players who never prestiged, but took all the perks are "awarded" with bonus prestige levels, why should players who went far beyond that by prestiging their character 3 times and THEN getting all the perks?
The catch up mechanic was limited to Prestige 11 for killers and 12 for survivors due to the number of perks available in the game anyway, so what is the reason behind limiting it to a lower number?
