Why wasn’t Calm Spirit changed to counter “Killer Instinct”

The change it received was completely pointless imo. Nobody is going to run it, maybe Jake’s doing their adept but that’s about it.

It is going to continue collecting dust

Heres what it would work against if it did counter Killer Instinct:

  • Legion’s Feral Frenzy
  • Night Shroud reveal
  • Close to Demogorgon Portals
  • Walking/Running over Rites of Judgement
  • Victor’s shriek radius
  • Using Nemesis Vaccine
  • Attempting to solve Lament Configuration
  • Close to Dire Crow
  • Being Fully Condemned
  • Being close to a locker when The Dredge is near

It’s probably not the Strongest change but it is a better change that is fitting with the perk.

There is no reason you should even get a de-buff by using a perk. I am sorry but the new change is useless.

It is a weird change. The perk has been through enough “weak” changes.

It should just let me swarm the killer with crows at this point.

Killer Instinct should not have any counter, especially not as a perk. It’s part of a killer’s power and perks shouldn’t do things that only work against certain killers, as @jesterkind pointed out already.

That said, the 30% debuff it currently has is extremely harsh and I wish to see it changed.

I previously wanted Distortion to block it, but not now with an infinite number of tokens available on it.

Killer Instinct is available exclusively on powers. You are not meant to have a counter to that.

Yeah having a single perk that completely multiple killers powers is just a horribly unhealthy idea that would be run in every build for that reason. All of these are things Behavior would probably want to stay away from at this point.

Also not to mention it'd be extremely swingy perk depends on the killer, like it's iron will against spirit but order of magnitude worse.

    Fantastic idea! Love it.

I would rather not have a perk that counter a killer's power, especially one that can affect multiple killers.

It already counters doctor and several perks, I don't think we should make this the pain resonance of perks for survivors just take off the speed penality and its golden.

Killer Instinct exists to not be counterable. It's why you don't see perks giving killer Instinct and it's solely tied to a killers power.

devs can do whatever they want with the game including countering killer instinct.

i like this EXCEPT the solving the lament configuration as that would delete Cenobite's ability to teleport to the box

and when someone tries to open the box, he comes. That is a rule and a fact that should never be changed

Which is exactly why it’s not a good idea. KI is an intricate part of a killer’s power and it’s not designed to be countered through perks. You counter those killers in other ways (dried cherry blossom is BS though).

Having a perk to counter it would be unfair to those killers and a useless effect against several others.

now that i think about it yea.

some add-ons like cherry blossom would be fine if they are countered but i just imagined legion using their ability but you just dont see the survivors near you.

looping an executioner with his trail around the loop and he cant use the KI to snipe you through walls

some killer's powers (like artist's birds or nemesis' vaccine) would not really greatly decrease their power but it would be awkward as hell defining on what it works and on what it does not

sounds cool on paper but in practice might make some killers completely unplayable/really worse off

I do like this but I feel like it should be a bit picky about what killer instincts it blocks rather than just all of them. Cenobite's is kind of unique looking and very important to him. Legion's is also important for them chaining hits to keep people injured. Ghostface, Nemesis, Twins, and Artist are kinda just bonus but not required for them to function. Sadako I feel almost never happens so I think she should keep hers. Pyramid Head, Demogorgon, and Dredge (mostly the latter two) are kind of somewhere in between where they're very useful to their killers but they don't cease to work without them.

Also, with Lightweight and Distortion getting buffed, people might be getting pretty hard to track if you can't track them by scratch marks, auras, crows, screams, or killer instincts. What else is there? Sound and just straight up seeing them, I guess. For sure though, they need to remove the slowdown from this perk or no one will ever use it again. I didn't hate it how it was, even, but I don't mind quieter totems and chests, though they don't seem to fit as much as hiding your "heartbeat" for killer instinct.
