Losing fun as survivor by last update
Hey everyone,
I've been playing DBD for over 3 years now and have around 1400 hours of play. I mainly play Survivor, with and without friends, as well as Killer to complete certain quests.
I thought from patch to patch that at some point it would also be good with changes that have a negative effect. How is that meant now? I'm explaining my critical view of the update and the gameplay of the survivors and killers on the basis of the patch and the last few days. As I mentioned, it's my personal opinion and friends who play it see it relatively similarly.
First of all. The update itself is a nice change, visually. You can switch between characters when spending Bloodpoints without having to switch characters first. I like that a lot. Also certain changes to the Perk, be it the one for Killer or Survivor. Changes on certain maps with more Mazes - just amazing. They've done away with certain death land areas with that.
Now to the update itself and my personal criticism - both positive and negative.
90s instead of 80s for the generator is a very nice thing, but it led to many killers taking perks that cause the generator to burst or stop as soon as a survivor is knocked down or hung up. Since the update, it is cumbersome to finish generators with randoms.
The modified borrowed time is a nice to have when playing. Often many survivors run around without it and save. This is finally history, is what I thought at the first moment. Unfortunately, I noticed that many survivors no longer try to save safely but simply save and hope to escape. However, every second killer follows exactly the person who was brought down and waits for the ridiculous 5s. That is not a value with which you really have a chance to escape.
I think it's good that you want to bring perks like Botanical Knowledge back into the game, but it shouldn't be the purpose that everyone takes the perk to heal faster? I mean, self-healing is just useless since the update. Without the perk, you can't heal yourself if you don't have a medkit and if your team doesn't help you, you run the risk of being injured all the time. The 35% on self-care is simply too low and it can't be that you have to take further perks to be able to heal yourself to a normal level. It simply takes too long, especially because the med-kit efficiency bonus has been removed. Why? You only got this bonus if you did a skill check perfectly. I had rounds where every player just spent time healing. The point of the game should be to try to survive, but that possibility was taken away.
Now the progression and prestige system. In the last few weeks I would think that they would want to work against the grinding in the game, more focus on the game instead of how to get every perk and character the fastest.
The update suggests exactly the opposite. I know a lot of survivors as well as killers who played all characters on Prestige 0 level 35 or level 50, why? Because they only want to unlock the perks. Now you have to bring every character prestige so that it is also activated to some extent. Didn't they want to work against grinding? With the update, it is encouraged that you grind more.
I, for one, am one of those people who pulled a character to prestige 3 before and otherwise only played all other characters up to level 50. If I had brought all the characters to prestige 1, I would have been saved for the update - but no, I have to play up every character even further to unlock the perks again. That's not the point of the game, is it?
You only looked at the prestige before the update and then raised the players, but maybe you should have also considered the players who have previously unlocked all perks of x-characters as well as their level. It is a strong unding that everyone who has invested over x-hours in the last years now has to work on it again to unlock the perks.
This absolutely has to be corrected, so many hours were invested here by so many players and all the work was in vain. Nobody needs 100 prestige levels. This is not Call of Duty or any of the other numerous first-person shooters. Personally, I loved playing DBD because of the different game design. It was something different from the many games on the market and I think it's a shame that they didn't think this through with the update.
Another point is matchmaking. Why is the prestige of the players displayed here? Can't we please just deactivate this? It tends to cause players to leaven instantly if their fellow players have lower prestige on their characters. Also what I can't quite understand is why the killer sees the prestige levels of the players in a matchmaking? You do realise that a killer with a lower prestige then thinks "Hey I will camp him, he is prestige 9"?
I don't know what they were thinking when they made this change, but it's definitely not good...
Then another point that really gets on my nerves in the last few days is the way Survivor and Killer play.
If you currently play as a survivor with randoms, you have the big problem that many don't do generators anymore. It's as if they are only playing to escape at the end - a last man standing. Many survivors have become more selfish, especially since the update. They are unhooked even though the killer is next to them, they don't play strategically anymore. The main thing is to get lots of points to level up the characters faster or to grind for prestige.
Now the criticism towards almost every 2nd killer in my rounds. Even before the update it was exhausting against such players and now it is even worse. It is hard camped, hard tunneled and only played to hunt every survivor so that he disconnects, mostly after unhook. I just had a round where three players leaved. How about a penalty system for tunneling or camping? How about a penalty system for players who haven't done any generators in the entire round and spend most of their time hiding?
Solo queue as a survivor is no longer possible since the update. The game is becoming less and less fun after over 1400 hours of playing every day and I know that other friends feel the same.
Now for some bugs that have been there for months and no fix is coming.
Imagine you are being chased, knock down a pallet and the killer bugs his way through it and hits you, the same if the killer is also stunned? Funny. Imagine you jump through a window and you are already several metres away and the killer hits you even though he is still standing on the other side.
Survivors start a generator or want to remove the state that it goes down, you release the generator without having a check. At the same moment you stop, a check comes and the state goes down the killer comes. Used to be fixed, bug is back.
How about working on current bugs instead of introducing new ones with every update? Its not pretty any more.
And please stop making your updates always killer positive. For every killer in the round there are 4 survivors. Check your updates on both sides. For fairness, for fun.
Currently I am most pissed off about the prestige update that all the invested rounds in the survivor were for nothing and everyone has to grind back up to unlock them again. Another pointless time, just because they changed everything to 9 prestige levels to be able to activate the skins as well as the perks completely... No matter if killer or survivor. Annoying...
For those who have read this far, thank you. It's just my view and who knows, maybe some of my points will be similar to yours. We don't have to be like-minded on all points, but the update is not nice and colourful as it is to read....
