Dissolution not activating when Deathslinger's chain is broken

Dissolution states: "3 seconds after injuring a Survivor *by any means*, Dissolution activates for 20 seconds." yet it does not activate when breaking the chain with the environment (injuring them and putting them into a state of Deep Wounds).
I've tested with just about every other way of injuring survivors and it seems to work with every other method of injuring.
I considered it may be because going into a state of injured + Deep Wound wouldn't trigger it but it activates with Feral Frenzy so I'm convinced it should work.
