Range has been fixed. Now the nurse hate needs to stop.

First, I don't play DbD to "bully" players π
Secondly, as much as I love the nurse, I enjoy other killers π€
Thirdly, as long as someone comes to discuss with me in a calm, thoughtful way, and doesn't start to bury their head in the sand with "You're a hand nurse, there's no point in discussing with you!", I'm open to any discussion π

True, I was speaking more from a Nurse perspective, though. Console nurse is much harder, and nowhere near as good as PC nurse.
SWF without Discord? Sure, you can say that. SWF with Discord? Completely different.
I've had just as many bad experiences facing toxic killers (mori cancelling, anyone...?) as I have facing toxic survivors.
This.
Yes, it really is a problem. If only these console players who play with restricted nurse and don't know what a real PC nurse can do would stop talking about things they know nothing of.
2 -
I must have misunderstood, sorry π£
I meant that there are players who, as soon as they can't play in the most simplistic way of the game, it doesn't suit them, and they find it unacceptable to have to think a little bit more than just: "I press E, I go from pallet to pallet, I go through the window, I come back, I go through the window again... my God, I'm a living God!" π
0 -
Of course the crying stopped when she was turned off. Since the crying is coming from people who can't stand to meet a powerful killer who gives them a hard time, if they can get away from this monstrous insurmountable difficulty (lol), they are very happy about it π

I would add that other factors come into play: luck, bad luck, the RNG of the game, the choices of the survivors/nurse, the composition of the team, the mood of the players during the game, etc.

I've seen plenty of pity kills in my time, as well as having seen pity hatches. Your experience isn't shared by everyone, just like mine isn't.
1 -
Then, likewise, just because I still think Nurse is an extremely unfun experience in this game, I am not a baby and I don't play DbD to bully killers. I merely turned what you said around on you to make you see it was a faulty generalization.
What I meant with the Nurse profile picture was that these players clearly love the Nurse above all else for them to choose her as their profile picture and they are going to struggle to see things from another perspective.
0 -
I totally agree that a nurse who plays dirty, has the range addons + starstruck + agitation + lethal pursuer and plays on Midwich ... might as well say she tips the scales in her favor π€£
0 -
If I made a generalization, I apologize, because it is a figure of speech that is not useful at all, and that brings nothing to the debate! π
It's obvious that SOME players like to play the nurse, some don't, some don't care, some like to play it, some don't, etc. I agree!
But not liking a killer is only subjective, that's why, somewhere, it's sad to see players transforming a "I don't like to face X or Y" into "X or Y must disappear" ... admit it's a little bit exaggerated.
By the way, thank you for saying "Nurse is an unpleasant gaming experience." ! Because on the other hand, I can completely understand that one prefers to face this or that killer, in the same way that I myself prefer or don't prefer this or that killer π
1 -
as a killer main, nurse definitely needs a nerf, she's too broken and there is little counterplay against her once you master her.
9 -
You can repeat that argument like a mantra or the classic "she is hard to play" argument whatever you want but the nurse is a failed design of the 2016 pure infinites strongly survivor sided maps era, I mean, she's a killer who strongly bypass the main defenses of survivors against killers (pallets and windows) and also have high mobility/high pressure and if it wasn't enough she has been indirectly buffed in the last midpatch with the general killer buffs. As some people said, becoming her M1s special attacks would be a nice start, but in my opinion she needs a rework to fit the current times.
PS: Killer main here.

I have the impression that many people associate "counterplay" with classic game counterplay.
Wouldn't the best counterplay against a nurse, besides being stealthy and breaking her LOS, be the speed of the rest of the team to make the generators as fast as possible to not let a snowball occure ?
0 -
Fixed? I thought the speed was intended? Did i miss something?
0 -
No worries. :) And I take back my statement about not being able to discuss with a Nurse profile picture, you seem friendly and constructive.
I agree that liking things is subjective and changes should not be made based on what people enjoy or dislike. Changes should be made based on objective facts (such as 'this is too strong'), which in the end is something only the developers of this game can do, although we as players like to think we know better based on our subjective experiences.

Gen speeds have been increased, now gen rushing complaints needs to stop... Oh wait π€
3 -
You know, I like to tease people, to be a little bit sarcastic, but I'm just a player like all of you, nothing more, nothing less π€
I like DbD a lot, it's a nice game, of course, with its own flaws, but it has potential.
I really like the nurse, she is one of the strongest killers in the game, she has a unique power and I understand that she can't please everyone π€
When she could perform up to 5 tp, with only fatigue as a consequence, and no cooldown, I agree that she was way too powerful π
However, today, even though she remains on the podium of DbD killers, she is not the power monster she used to be; she is still very strong, but when facing a team of experts, she will be sweaty π
That's why I find it sad to see so many people spitting on it, trying to pass off a personal assessment as a general statement π₯
When I asked all these people to show us their gameplay against the nurse, it was not to make fun of them ... but simply because I am sure they would benefit from doing so π
I would love to be able to point out to them, from my modest level of nurse (I'm neither an expert nurse nor a competitive nurse), the mistakes I might notice, just so that they understand some things and improve π
An anecdote, like this: the other day, I was playing with some friends against a nurse; I died first (yes, shame, I know), and so I was looking at a friend's screen share...
At one point, she said "Oh my, she's really good". I didn't say anything, but I could see that in fact, the nurse wasn't that strong (yes, I know, I lost to a not OP nurse, I expect some people will seize on that fact to mock, but that's okay). I had also noticed that my friend played way too simply: she didn't run along the walls, her trajectories were way too linear and straight, she didn't try to take irrational directions to disrupt the nurse, etc.
The reason I tell this is that sometimes the survivor will feel, from HIS perspective, that he was overpowered by the nurse, when in fact, when you look at the scene with an outside eye, you realize that it was more like he was giving her too many opportunities.
There is another thing that I find unfortunate, in some players (survivors).
If you play the nurse, and you dare to point out that they were, for example, too greedy, too provocative, or toxic, often the answer is the same.
"Ha ha, you're complaining when you're playing nurse."
If they get run over, they complain that the nurse is too strong, but if THEY are pointed out as being unpleasant, they retort that I wasn't powerful enough. You can tell what kind of mentality you're dealing with when you read this kind of comment π€£
And finally, I find it really annoying that when I elaborate on what I'm saying and try to discuss, you always get a guy who comes along, who doesn't give a damn, and just writes :
"Yeah, the nurse is too strong, she doesn't belong in the game, lol."

"And I take back my statement about not being able to discuss with a Nurse profile picture, you seem friendly and constructive."
I actually love the nurse, but Bubba, the Twins, the Demogorgon and Wesker also have a special place in my heart ππ€
0 -
First of all I completely agree that the argument "It's complicated to play SO it's normal that it's powerful." is not validπ
Well, let's say it's more subtle than that.
Let's say a killer is extremely complicated to master, like, really the infamous thing, you know.
And that in the end, he's trash-tiered. It wouldn't make sense π
On the other hand, I think it makes sense that a powerful killer takes practice.
On the other hand, you, like other people, bring up the fact that the nurse would be a "Vestige of the 2016s." On the contrary, I think that she has been redesigned to fit the game, and to offer a killer who, even if he is still very strong, has nothing to do with the original nurse.
So yes, they fixed some of the bugs she could encounter, but she's still very far from what she was initially.
Many players seem to "complain" about the fact that she bypasses the physical defenses of the survivors.
But ... that's the whole point of the character. And that's what makes her so interesting: she offers a gameplay, and a counterplay, different from all the other killers βΊοΈ You know, I love confronting nurses; and I don't say that because I'm an expert survivor that no nurse in the world can touch. Absolutely not, that's not the case at all by the way, I am a decent survivor, nothing more. I just love the fact that I'm facing this killer who interacts with his environment in such a unique way that is completely different from other killers π
The fact that you prefer to fight the other killers and not the nurse doesn't necessarily mean that it's her fault; it's your appreciation; I agree that she can't please everyone, but that's the principle of the world in general.
That's why I encourage the survivors who complain to show us how they play against her, because I'm sure there could be some constructive exchanges that would allow them to learn some things when playing against the nurse π€

Map : Midwich
Killer : Nurse
Perks : Lethal pursuer, Darkness revealed, floods of rage, jolt(or devour hope)
Addons : Kavanagh's last breath + Heavy panting
That's it. Welcome to a boring game on DbD π€£ (I don't play like that as a nurse ... I think it's just stupid to arrive in "I'm going to crush you" mode ... I might as well leave it to the randomness of the map, at least π€)

Nope.

Correct, it wasn't in the patch notes, that was an oversight. I have now added it into the Patch Notes for the 6.2.0 PTB, it's under content.
For reference, this is what has changed.
15 -
Does that mean the blinks over 20 meters are also getting the increased duration? I thought the questionable math interaction was only happening with < 20 meter blinks?
0 -
based
0 -
only those addons have been changed. What was happening was that as they were increasing the distance of the blink, they kept the same blink time, so it was the speed of the blink that was increasing quite a bit.
8 -
Thank you for the clarification Mandy, It's nice to know community feedback surrounding the addons have been listened to!
3 -
Oh, they actually fixed her ranged addons. Sweeeeeeet.
2 -
I thought those two addons were only increasing the speed of the blinks, when the blinks were less than 20 meters? And those two addons were fine when the blinks were over 20 meters?
Or were the under 20 meter blinks fine, and it was the over 20 meter blinks that were broken with those addons, because they didnβt override the blink duration cap?
There is so much conflicting information on these forums, that Iβm honestly not sure what exactly was the issue with those two addons, and Iβm still confused.

Nurse hate forever. Dude. :{

I'm honestly speechless
I'll add the /s for you

I was literally going to post the same exact thing.

My understand of how Nurse blinks works is that the nurse has a min and max range along side a min and max duration. A 1.5m blink takes 0.25 seconds and a 20m blink takes 1.5 seconds. When you increase the max range of nurse the duration to reach max range doesn't change and as a side effect shorter blink ranges now take less time which causes her blinks to be faster with range addons.
The change here is that the max duration of nurse blinks is being increases so a 20m blink will always take 1.5 seconds and blinks above than range will take longer.
0 -
Remove her range add-ons, make her blink swings count as special attacks and she is fine,, playing vs nurse is actually fun despite her potential to end chases super fast
4 -
Thank you! That explains it.
1 -
The addons increased the distance traveled.
However, the game, if I understood correctly, considered that it took X seconds to cover the distance, whatever it was.
Therefore, traveling a greater distance while keeping the duration unchanged inevitably causes the speed of travel to increase.
I guess they made it so that the game doesn't have to consider that it takes X seconds to do a tp anymore, which allowed to increase the distance, without impacting the speed.
However, one question remains. Why was the speed of the nurse also accelerated over short distances? That was the question, because a nurse who did a short tp with range addon did it faster than without.
.

My guess is that since nurse has a min duration, the game calculates the duration and distance and together as you charge her power. So increasing the distance means that the duration doesn't scale up 1:1 anymore.
1 -
INCREDIBLE.
At 4:53 PM, Mandy officially explains that the nurse's range addons no longer speed up her tp.
And at ... 5:49 PM, less than an hour after this announcement, we already see someone coming to cry to remove the nurse's range addons.
There are times when I am literally desperate for a part of the DbD community ...
Man ... seriously.

You perception of the word crying is actually scarier than the part of the community you are referring to,, traveling faster or not I think range add-ons should be deleted, and that's an opinion you are allowed to disagree with all you want

Show me how you play against the nurse, so we can have a baseline for the grievances you have against her π

Ooh my bad I didn't know I was talking to a dbd professor ππnext time I'll make sure to record so we can discuss my mistakes πjokes aside I know how to play against nurse,, breaking Los to either force her into predicting or blink to where she last saw me first, not always trying to run back at her when she charges her blinks, keeping it mixed,, thing is for a killer that ignores every single rule other killers have to follow she needs her strongest addons be nerfed accordingly,, im not hating on nurse, just her range addons amd the stupid possibilities they offer her
0 -
A teacher? No, just a logical person. I'm always curious to see the results of the games of players who complain about the nurse, to see what their games are really like.
Since you know how to play against her, then you won't have any problem to show us your games π€
It might also help those who don't know how to play against her to improve π

I think many here don't know what a fix is. The addons weren't broken, they were working as they were designed to do.
This is a nerf, not a (bug) fix. You can't fix a bug that wasn't one to begin with. All one needed to understand how the addons interacted with the base blink was understand how time, distance and speed work together, that's basic maths.
1 -
Im not greedy, maybe let her keep her green one,, id consider leaving her range addons as they are if they made blink strikes special attacks,, the only times range addons truly make me mald are when she is doin some starstruck or make your choice /floods of rage shenanigans where she literally is on top of you in a few secs even across the map,, and yes i know basekit nurse would kinda struggle in huge mapa as i also play killer myself, m1 killers for the most part
0 -
You insist on being passive aggressive even though i clearly explained my problem is not nurse but her range addons,, ima go ahead and be honest with you then,i dont think you can understand what you are reading and trying to reason with a person like you is wasted time πββοΈ
1 -
There is one thing that could prove that his range addons are a problem: that all nurses who use them do 4K / 0 generators.
Prove to me that this is indeed the case, and I will consider these addons a problem.
0 -
Your argument is as stupid as wraith slinger and spirit gettin nerfed back then,, aside spirit were the two others gettin 4ks or nurse level results?no,, but still got gutted,,not only on add-ons but also their base kits,,
1 -
Most killers only needs buff in high mmr but how to do that without completely destroying middle and low mmr. Well maybe some kind of catch up mechanic could work if survivors do too well gens get slower and their movemet speed gets slower if killer does not get hooks? But then survivors should get same if killer is doing too well faster gens and faster movement...
0 -
yes, because besides nurse all other killers are m1 killers, giga brain.
0 -
Maybe people will finally stop whining now?
0 -
You must be new here.
1 -
Lol you mean an entire swf has to "git gud" even then if the nurse is "gud" still difficult especially with aura reading off hook and starstruck
