Boon: Dark Theory needs a secondary effect

I haven't seen a single soul use this boon since it came out and I don't really blame them. Then again, I feel like Haste is a very tricky thing to balance and could slingshot the boon from being worthless to busted if for example it just became a pre endgame Hope you can just keep re boon'ing, but right now it's a 24m limited area that just makes you run 0.08m/s and has to be set up, in a game where Hope and Blood Pact exist.

So to make it more worthwhile I think it should have a secondary effect. I've had a few ideas for this but the only one I like and feel is lore accurate (with Yoichi being supposed to be able to make survivors MOVE faster) and not busted is a 15% vaulting speed increase, especially now that you can't get that from Resilience and Spine Chill anymore. I grabbed the number off of these perks, but I'm not against it being lower or higher.

I'd like to know what people think about this. Share your ideas and so on.

Please be constructive.🙂

Honestly I think it just needs a range increase

Not too much tho I would say 32m at most.

because all boons have a 24 meter range.

I say raise the speed bonus to 5 percent. If your gonna run the killer near the totem to begin with, might as well make it worth it, since the killer would break it at earliest possible convenience

I say just increase vaulting speed by 10% or something. The numbers can be worked on but something good

It could hide grunts of pain by 100% and increase haste by 1% more.

As it stands it only seems to be usable if you are already using boons.

I actually got decent value out of it last night; Dark Theory+Shadowstep frustrates the living Daylight out of killers on RPD because you're just too fast and sneaky

Wish its get a Tiny lil somethin tho

It can be a perk that is good on braindead OP loops, no need to change

5% is literally game-breaking levels of overpowered. Let alone for something that could be literally anywhere in a 24m cylinder with infinite height.

Here's the problem with this perk if it became impactful on it's own it becomes a hard lose/lose for the killer unless they have some form of anti-loop/tp ability. What are you supposed to do if you're chasing a survivor and they run into theoretically buffed dark theory(continue chasing = lose, break off chase to go break totem = lose, abandon chase as soon as you enter the aura= lose)?

It's a dumb perk idea(haste effect in x area) and should be revised completely

Make it increase vaulting speeds. That way it could be actually be viable in the eyes of some and not overlooked by most of the community.

Honestly its such a weird perk.

Put it in a hard to reach place in a strong main and suddenly it has the potential to be really good, specially with shadow step. But with the boon perks range being as limited as they are and its own effect being a measly 2%, its not the perk slot at all.

I think boons need a rework altogether. You can just bring 1 but it has its own range and its own bless speed etc kind of deal so weaker effects like these can cover more ground and actually be useful.

But you would need to look for a good place to loop, hope it has a totem, bless it, lure the killer, hope the killer is not fast(nurse/blights), just to start getting some value out of it. I dont see how overpowered it could be at 5%

Honestly any boons besides circle of healing are bad because they trick your teammates into thinking you put down an actually good boon. Dark Theory requires good totem spawns, Shadow Step is okay but by itself is pretty worthless, Exponential doesn't matter when killers just pick you up instantly anyway.

The fact it adds an insanely massive amount of time to chase which is an auto-loss in time efficiency for every single killer without mobility and anti-loop both? Which means they are quite literally forced to drop the chase the second someone goes inside that area and then spend time looking for wherever the hell the Boon is, squash it, and then have to repeat that the next time someone takes the killer to the re-booned area? 5% is literally game-breaking.
