A stupid take / idea

Why not remove hook timers. like, either you need to hook a survivor three times to kill him, or every survivor is on hook. Threee attempts to unhook yourself. If the first one fails it extends the time to unhook you (maybe double it?). Second fail gets you to second hookstate. Third one kills you.

I am aware that there would be a problem with it, may brain just wont spit out the reason right now.

It would make facecamping irrelevant. It practically is what the perk Reassurance could do, if it isn't reworked prior the update.

I guess it could get exploitet by toxic players (as everything), just leaving you hanging. But killing / eventual freeing yourself would still be possible. So kinda the same as before.

Sooooo ... thoughts?

The entire reason hooks have timed states is to generate pressure. It makes people have to rescue instead of just ignoring them to do something else.

So then people slug and the game will be even less fun than it already is.

Why give survivors an advantage with infinite hook timers when I can slug all 4 knowing they will bleed out?

A killer running around, because he's definetly not camping does not generate pressure?

If survivors don’t have timed hook states, there’s no reason to grab them before finishing a gen/heal/etc. Which is literally the point of the timed state, to force that.

Slugging is already possible. Technically it is faster than hooks. So the question is, why are you not doing it already?

All things considered I don't think it could be "exploited" but it would be a large survivor buff. Right now, when somebody is hooked, survivors have to act quite fast and stop working on gens, if they wait even 30 seconds before going for the unhook, then the killer will come back to the hook and camp so that the hooked person hits stage 2. With this change, you could finish your gen and even start a new one, for as long as the killer stays in proximity to the hook. In general, the hook timer is there to counter survivors splitting and hiding.

That said I think extending the hook timer to at least 90 sec would make the game healthier (it would require killer buffs to compensate).

Doesn't seem like that bad of an idea actually.

Giving a hooked survivor unlimited time on the hook, means the other three survivors have unlimited time to do gens.

This punishes non-campers. As you're pressuring one less survivor whenever you have one hooked. Instead of having one survivor hooked and at least one other survivor going for the unhook, you just have the one survivor hooked and everyone else on gens.
