Is modding still possible?

Hi,

I’ve seen people mod the game to play custom maps before, but I couldn’t find any information on how that’s done. I’m really curious - is it still possible to mod the game to add custom maps or tweak attributes etc? I have ideas that I want to try out with friends, but I don’t know where to even start. Any advice or pointers appreciated!
