Will PC players ever be able to uncap our FPS past 120fps?

Since the regular 62fps cap is too low for many people it is known we can uncap our fps by going into the games config file and uncapping it that way. But no matter what number you put in the fps will just cap itself at 120fps. But here’s the issue: for example I have a 144HZ monitor and therefor I’d ideally want 144+fps, but with this invisible fps cap that locks it at 120 the game sometimes stutters a bit if I ever drop fps. I remember back in the day there wasn’t this 120fps lock and we could uncap the fps to whatever number, why can’t we go past 120 anymore?

    I am replying to this thread knowing damn well that I can only ever achieve the highest FPS of 68 ;-;
