Hag traps pulling camera
What's up with hag pulling the camera towards them. I don't remember them doing this before.

Some game it happens and sometimes not for some reason. idk

I was really bothersome especially when they would pop behind me ripping the camera backwards along with the character.

I believe its supposed to be a feature if i remember correctly. could be wrong.
it is annoying tho
9 -
If it is it needs to not be it's very disorienting.
11 -
i think its meant to exist to add to the jumpscare
fun fact: you can abuse it by running facing behind you so if you trigger a trap you instantly 180 and are out of range of her lunge even if she teleports with scroll wheel
4 -
It intended as basekit. One of her add-on does get rid of it though.
4 -
This is how it's always worked. It got inadvertently changed, but they fixed it.
Yes, that's the idea.
5 -
you look like a hag play, but someone said an addon removes this effect? is that true. because it feels like a lot of times its just not a think in a hag game
0 -
Yes. The purple 'shackles' addon removes the Hag clone and jumpscare sound, as well as the camera pull. In exchange, you get sneaky and instant teleports - it's one of her absolute best.
3 -
no wonder i got grabbed off a totem today.
1 -
People always forget how incredible Hag can be at defending totems. Devour, Ruin, Undying, Haunted is still really really good on her.
1 -
This is something I've been complaining about for a while.
1 -
Someone said it was an addon. but even when they jump out of the trap without that addon it feels like it does not happen most of the time
0 -
Which is stupid and needs to be fixed.
0 -
Thats stupid because when it pulls your camera it also forces your character to run in a random direction. I repeatedly got pulled out of loops because I triggered a trap next to me and now I'm running that way.

It's really bad design there's no reason for my camera to be jerked around because I triggered her trap. Imagine if pinhead hit you with a chain and it ripped your camera to where the chain hit.
1 -
That is the point. Otherwise you would just keep running straight.
3 -
It ######### so hard when ahm' tryin' to loop for a bit, I'm not sure if this is how it is on PC but on ps4 the character just gets pulled around whenever you move the camera. I can't tell you how many times I get stuck on something because I needed to look behind me.

Which makes more sense then running towards it. Idk about you but if something jumps out the ground looking like the hag I'm going to keep running not start running towards it. You could argue you would look to it but that doesn't excuse ripping the camera that way along with the player.
0 -
Thats my exact experience. I'm on ps5 I wonder if it's a bigger issue on console.
1 -
It's so the hag can get a hit in.
If you could ignore the trap and keep running hag would miss almost every time after a teleport except for traps that the survivor runs head on in.
4 -
Hag's traps always intentionally swung the camera. At some point a year or two ago though it got bugged and the camera stopped being pulled by them. So if it's working now that's a bug fix. (If you ever look up Michi's old Hag guides from a few years ago they have entire sections talking about how to use the camera swing to your advantage.)
4 -
I get that but bad design to cover up a bad design doesn't fix anything. I played games in the 90s and 2000 so I'm no stranger to bad cameras or cameras deciding to do what they want but even back then it was considered bad design(mote in the 2000s). It was actually staring to give me a headache and I can imagine it would give some people motion sickness.
0 -
That makes sense because I don't remember them doing that and I don't think it fixed because the more I think about it I realize it happend about 50% of the time but they definitely need to figure something else out.
I don't remember them doing when I first started and that was before spirit was in game.

It does excuse it. It is SUPPOSED to delay you. That's the point of the trap.
3 -
Something supposed to be that way does not excuse bad design. Imagine buying a water hose and you attract it and turn it on and it has a bunch of holes and they tell you no its ok thats how it's designed. You wouldn't be like oh ok if it's designed that way then ok. No that's a terrible design and you would want your money back.
3 -
Then just have it apply hindered instead. I like to look at where I'm going, you know?
2 -
yeah.... they should do something to make it less like your neck is being snapped when you trigger a trap in the same update that they do that tho
1 -
It's a feature. And one of the reasons i hate playing against hag
0 -
It is not bad design. It's messing you up. IT IS MEANT TO MESS YOU UP.
7 -
No.
1 -
It's a spooky jumpscare feature :)
Also Hag needs all the help she can get, poor thing is so painfully weak at chases.
5 -
A garden hose with holes doesn't do what it's suppose to do...
The hag trap flicks do
It also allows hag players to get creative by placing traps near doorways to cause people to miss the door instead of always going trap, teleport, hit. It adds to the gameplay
The hag flicks are NOT bad design. You just don't personally like them. There is a difference between those 2. A difference this community needs to learn

Jerking the camera around without the players control has always been considered bad camera design especially when your camera orientation controls the direction of your character.
You can even look at elden ring when fighting certain large opponents if you use your lock on I makes the camera jerk around. No one was like oh that's intended to make the fight harder nope its considered crappy camera controls.

It's a part of her power, it's intended
3 -
Just because it's intended doesn't make it good design. They gave nurse the ability to have 5 blinks as an intended feature does that make it a good design choice? Doctor originally had way more visual stimulus when in madness to the point where people actually complained that it was a visual overload so it was toned down. His original design was intended to be like that but the developers decided that it wasn't a good design and changed it.

It is good design though, but I see that the real reason you're unhappy is because you don't know how to face and run Hag. It's neither overpowered nor unavoidable. If something is not exactly easy for you to counter or you need to learn a new method, doesn't mean a whole killer power has to be nerfed.
Hag mains have made entire discords helping and teaching players how to place traps strategically to use that part of her power well. And if you know how to put it, you know how to avoid it.
Now, I'm not the type of hag main that relies heavily on the camera flip, but I know hag mains that use that primarily and just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it needs to be nerfed. Again, it's not overpowered or uncounterable

Thrill used to be great for Shackles+Mint Rag build too. You could have two hex perks, one of them being Thrill. A strategy I found funny was to trap both totems and, when someone approached to cleanse them, one of two things would happen:
If they triggered the trap, they wouldn't know, and you could teleport behind them from anywhere on the map and hit or grab them.
If they crouched and didn't trigger it, who cares? Thrill would warn you, and you could just teleport there with Mint Rag and either hit or grab.
But then they removed the notification from Thrill to stop it from countering boons, and a totem that was only useful in very specific builds became borderline useless. 😢

I have important news for you: DbD is not Elden Ring.
Disorienting effects exist in multiple games and are not bad design by default. You are not supposed to have full control of the character 100% of the time when there are effects intended to take that control away from you for short periods of time.

Shackle/Ear combo is absolutely the best and can get so many jump scares.
0 -
There's already a addon that does that and it's the soaked shoe. While in a triggered trap area the Survivors are hindered.
0 -
Doesn't Disfigured Ear warn the survivors when they step in traps, though (because they realize they got deafened)? For this reason I always thought it would work against Rusty Shackles, but never went against it to confirm it.
0 -
Its a scarejump. Its doing what its supposed and desgned to do. Startle survivors and move their camera.
Re7 did that to with that hillbilly dude punching you in the face after grabbing you from behind.
1 -
Not really Deaf isnt really used in alot of abilities so players don't expect it when it happens even then if they CANT see where the trap was triggered they won't know where the Hag is coming from.

This is the only fun part of playing Hag and people already say she's boring. No, camera rotation has to stay.
3 -
Y'all misunderstood me. Hag needs the camera turn or else she doesn't get the hit. Play her. See how hard it is when survivors movement exploit and trip the trap without getting their head turned. You're legit starting a chase, as a 110%, from scratch. That's not good.
1 -
I don't think these people play Hag.
1 -
i dont play hag without rusty shackles so i cant relate. i thought you were saying that they needed to fix hag snapping peoples necks tho and i was suggesting that if they make it so if their camera doesnt snap something else needs to happen
0 -
It always did that, since the beginning. The only time it doesn't is when you use rusty shackles
